It's not a great fight, it's a decent fight. Having this in some shitty, small casino is stupid as well. But then again, Gary Shaw is the lead promoter. Would draw loads more in the UK or Oz but obviously US TV money trumps all.
It's a shame Murray and Macklin don't have promotors who have an emotional interest. You can imagine Hearn has been sorting this out and hasn't let Gary Shaw rest. While Macklin is facing a fighter nobody wants to fight and Murray is being fed to the lions in Mexico. A good promotor s everything in boxing. Murray and Macklin beat Geale, Barker doesn't - that's why it's a shame.
Decent fight and it`s good for a change to have a good fight in Augest to look forward too involving a brit when there will be **** all boxing in the uk.
This is the best possible fight for barker, geale is the weakest of the champions and therefore this is barkers best possible hope of winning a world title. Who cares if its in New York? Is geale American? Is he fighting in his hometown with all the advantages or is he going abroad just the same as barker? Macklin will get KO'd by GGG but barker has a great chance of beating geale, yet people criticise Hearn for making this fight! Barker can win this and set up some huge domestic scraps!
I find Geale a bit boring, no snap in his punches and barker isn't exactly exciting. But hey barker makes some nice money and if he wins gets a unification with GGG, more money but then a devastating KO loss.
If Barker puts in a similar performance like he did against Martinez he will be returning back to England as world champion.
