You sure know that Sturm lost two Close fights by decision? 2 of his last three?

A calculated risk worth taking for a mill,in boxing I suppose any fight can be your last,so paying off the house first might be the sensible move and if he beats Sturm the next fight(s) are for the pension.:hat

I wouldn't call it cashing out as Barker is perfectly capable of beating Sturm.

Cashing out would be if he stepped into the ring with Golovkin.

It's all down to the fact the German economy is ****ing amazing. It's seemingly recession proof.

Lots and lots of money to be made there, it's why they can make rematch after rematch.

Other thing worth remembering is on top of the money is better in Germany, it's a 75/25 split in favour of Barker! He'd be mad to say no.

Id do it, imagine if they pulled it off!

Barker would be number one middleweight in the uk. This and a big all British clash in London and he would be set for life

Maybe i'm in the minority but i thought Sturm did just enough to beat Macklin, Murray, Geale and Soliman in very close fights and he's hardly a fighter who has benefitted in the past from gift decisions...infact the opposite if you look at the Oscar dela Hoya fight. The whole 'robbed in Germany' is just a cliche and could apply just as much to Britain or America.

For the record i think Sturm beats Barker if he shows up in the kind of form he was against Sebastian Zbik last year.

i think he beat Murray aswell.

Sturms jab is an underated weapon, but i think him and sturm woukld be a good fight.

What did you think of Sturm vs Macklin/Geale/Soliman?

I think he clearly beat Soliman and did enough against Geale to win, will agree the Macklin fight was debatable but even then he could have finished Macklin in last round.

Sturm vs Barker will be an interesting, technically they're very similar fighters but would give Sturm the edge though.

I haven't been able to work out all the fuss about his win over Macklin, Sturm stated slow in that fight but was clearly dominating at the end and won the 2nd half of that fight. I think Barker should go to Germany, he'll beat Sturm and then I'd like to see Barker-Geale 2 in the UK. It was such a good fight why not so many call's to see the rematch?
Also domestic foe's like Macklin, Murray and Lee would be good.

    Agreed.

There definately should be a Geale-Barker rematch, guess the winner of the first had an immediate mandatory versus Sturm or else there's no doubt they would have had a rematch straight away.

It's insanity that Lee, Murray, Barker and Macklin have never fought each other. In a ideal boxing world they would have a mini tournament starting with semi's and then the final.

Any half decent fighter should look good against Sebastian Zbik in all honesty, I cant stand fighters that don't leave the homeland... If ur champ OK maybe, But Sturm dosent wanna leave zee Germans since his defeat in the U.S! I think the Germans have lost faith in him as he would of got the decision vs Geale & Soliman if it was a year or 2 earlier regardless if he was getting his ass kicked.

If they fight in Germany im sure as Barker is champion there will be a british judge, Followed by a German(Obviously) & 1 from the states... So I don't see an issue here only becos Barkers coming in as the champ so he can dictate a little bit.
