with him when he says he should've won? He seems very clear and adamant. Not sure if he thinks it was totally clear, but he sure seems 2. Do you agree with him.. how did you score it?

I think Duran won it by a couple of points. The knockdown sealed it for me.

Still close fight. It's one of those ones like Mayweather Castillo that I can't fault you for going one way or the other.

Only one guy was down in this fight and it wasn't Duran. Had that knock down not occurred I would agree that Barkley should have won the fight, but the knock out changed it. In the 8th round Duran staying up also played a huge factor. Still one of my all time great fights to watch.

I scored the fight for Barkley but I didn't consider the SD loss a robbery or anything.

I thought a draw would have been fair.

I think the knockdown just shaded it for Duran. Barkley did a lot of great work in the fight but I think Duran did just a little more although I wouldn't have complained if it was a draw.

Basically there's a range of scoring which I would consider fair, a SD for Barkley or a close scoring win, wouldn't be outrageous, a draw?, sure that too would work, as would a SD win for Duran.

Let's face it, it was a very close fight.

Barkley was often throwing punches the full three minutes, he also clearly hurt Duran once or twice in the fight, but Duran also clearly hurt Barkley in the first round, and fought at a higher level after the close to a being a knock down in round 8 occurred. Then from rounds 9-12 it was pretty much all Duran, so close fight where a close decision for either fighter would have been reasonable. All credit to Duran for taking many of the punches Barkley landed, many fighters, including Hearns were floored by the type of punches Barkley landed, yet Duran was hit with vicious body punches and left hooks and still managed to stay on his feet. As Gil Clancy said, it was more a matter of who could catch better rather than who could punch.

A fighter could lose every round and still say he won...

I watched it just the other day actually and thought Duran won by a point or two. A really good fight.

Interesting to look at their faces at the end. Barkley's features were rearranged while Duran was unmarked.

I've seen him in interviews with Steve Bunce were they were saying he was robbed of his place in the HOF,didn't make enough money in his career to live of and both were talking about this fight as if it was an outright robbery.

I agree anything within the realm of a point either way would be very fair. The KD is the difference for anyone scoring it for Duran. Think i had him by a point.

I had it 7-5 for Duran with the extra point for the knockdown. I could also see it 6-6 which would still have the title going to Duran. Great fight and I believe Barkley fought his best fight in a losing effort.

Iran did a lot of good work in this fight. Kept is composure and worked the body consistently. He just kept getting tagged with clean shots from Duran who coud still crack even at `60.

Duran was just slicker and landed the cleaner shots and did more damage with his punches not to mention he finished the fight much stronger.

The right man won the fight. Roberto Duran

This is one of my favourite fights. Iran was bigger, stronger and probably busier but Duran's savvy, composure and counter-punching was remarkable. It was a very close fight and - as others have said - wouldn't have been a robbery either way.
