How the hell of i never heard about this until now? I'v always admired Barney Ross and been fascinated by his life story which is unbelivable with his childhood, Capone connection, life long friendship with Jack Ruby, time in the Marines and epic boxing career but i have never read about him being one of the survivors on PT 109 which was commanded by JFK during WWII.

Does everyone else besides me know about this? I searched for pics of the crew and found two but didn't notice Ross in either. I checked IMDB for the 1963 film made about it and Ross is one of the characters im going to watch that film at some point to see how he's portrayed.

This ESPN article says Ross was one of the survivors on PT 109 and after searching for accounts many mention a Barney Ross but after finding a good picture of the crew it doesn't look like him so is this just a coincidence and ESPN was mistaken, running it without verifying it was the boxer Barney Ross?
