Ross by UD. Ross was the greater fighter of the two. They both are equal in height and reach, but I see Ross outworking him. Ortiz was tough as nails, but I wouldn't rule out a stoppage.

Do you have ANY idea whatsoever what you're talking about? How is a pure boxer who's only edge is in the jab category going to stop a stronger, more powerful opponent who holds the edge in in-fighting and was never even been close to being stopped until the very end of his career, having routinely faced bigger hitters than Ross, who wasn't even a puncher?

Sorry, but I do believe you're talking directly out of your ass.

    Bump. God what a matchup.

I pick Oritz in the narrowest of decisions.

Ross UD. Ortiz is a bit underated at lw - IMO a Top5 - but Ross simply was a better and greate fighter. Ortiz was a bette infighter but Ross was no slouch himself and could hold his own there. Ortiz is the harder puncher but Barney´s chin was cast iron and he had a good defence. Ross has also the light edge in footwork and ring generalship and the much bette jab. I think he wins the fight on the outside and keep it there most of the time while holding his own on the inside. Close but clear UD for Barney.

I like Barney here too, but Ortiz will be with him all the way.

Ortiz would win a very close decision..this is a dream matchup between two real masters...and believe me, no stoppage would occur..it would be a give and take strategic battle..a real connoisseur's fight.
