for me it was the first because it was the most competive but the knock down was bs. in the second barrera acted like a ***** as usual and clearly lost the first 6 rounds and erik scored a clean knock down from a body shot and was not giving credit for it. the third was a great fight and marco steped up and won the fight no question but it wasnt as competative as the first
1st, 3rd, 2nd The first fight was so good, so close, I have a different winner everytime I watch it. That's why I love it.
of course the 1st fight, war all throughout...morales and even barrera might've lost some of their prime years cause of that fight
I think their first fight is extraordinary, but so was their third effort. Don't get me wrong, their first fight is my favorite and I think the greatest fight of all time, but their third ain't to far behind. I think it is one of the finest displays of technical ability from both combatants perhaps since Leonard/Duran I. Barrera takes the first few rounds with his swift counter-punching, particularly his left hand, but by round 7 Morales was throwing his over hand right over Barrera's jab, and began rallying back on the cards. There was always enough outbursts of action from the two to keep it from being a boring snooze fest, but a lot of the work they were doing was eye catching, and I often watch in awe. Their first was a tare up with skill, but I think the third fight showed the world how good technically they both were, even if Barrera had already done that in 2001-2002. 1. Barrera vs Morales I (Maybe the most intense fight I've ever seen) 2. Barrera vs Morales III (Lots of action, lots of technical ability on show) 3. Barrera vs Morales II (Still good, but Barrera fought he could do what he did to Sanchez to Morales. nope)
Man, I'm torn between the 1st. and the 3rd. The second half of the 2nd. one was good but still didin't compare. Both were two of the greatest fights I've ever seen. I'd throw 'em in my top 20, anyway.
I'd say the 1st...3rd...2nd in that order. The 1st was a war for all ages...The two simply tore into each other from start to finish..barrera had most of the cleaner hitting moments...his combination punching was a shade better than Morales's...And of course the KD in the last...which IMO...bull**** or not...sealed the victory for Marco. The 2nd..was way more technical....somewhat cagey...but in the last 6rnds really just came alive...a watered down version of the 1st one..the re-invented boxerpuncher version of Barrera emerged in this fight...perhaps the 1st took a lot from him...hell maybe both...IMO Morales nicked this one...he was simply the busier in the second half of the fight...but the judges opted to right the BS decision form the 1st and gave it Marco. The 3rd...both guys were slightly past it...Barrera was coming from a mauling by the Pacman...everybody figured he was done...Morales maybe not so in public perception anyway...Erik,in many quarters, was expected to win this one...he had been on a winning streak...albeit jaded at times...But Barrera pulled one of his better perfomances to outland and win a clear unanimous decsion IMO...The 1st half of the fight,he dominated morales in a suprising two-handed combination attack...The 4th is good example of this...Morales would,of course...the warrior he is... mount a comeback in the 2nd half of the fight...He had his moments...not enough IMO to eclipse the lead Marco had built up to that point...even then,Barrera still took a couple of rounds in the latter half of the fight.. True Great Warriors of the Game.
The 1st fight was not only the best of the trilogy but also the best Ive ever seen. Difficult fight to score, a draw would have been the fairest result even tho I thought Morales won 7 rds. 2nd fight Erik won clearly. 3rd fight I scored 114-114 (6 rds each)
