Plenty of fans and boxing writers refer Barrera as ATG already. He is still active boxer, still can win big fights like with PAC this fall but may be beaten also badly and ends like Morales for example. Is he already ATG no matter what the future brings to him?
Not only is Barrera an ATG, but he's also one of the best examples of an ATG you can get. He's He's been at the top for an unbelievable amount of time, beaten so many good fighters and shown he can come back from adversity time and time again. Not one of these guys that get a few good wins in a brief few years of their career then get called Hall of Famers and ATGs. Barrera's had nearly 70 fights and well over 20 of them were for world titles.
When you go through a career like MAB you can go down as a great before retiring and without a need for hindsight. MAB is undoubtedly a great fighter who will be remembered for as long as there are humans.
It is only now that I appreciate MAB. His showing versus JMM proved how skilled and good he is. In spite of the wear and tear because of his age, his performance for the first 5 rounds in that fight was boxing 101.
there's nothing he could do right now to not be considered an ATG...he could lose ten in a row and write a tell-all book confessing that the Naz fight was a work...there is no reversing his historical fortune now.
