Could someone fill me in for the reasosn for the bad blood between these two legends.:bbb There appeared to be a respectful embrace after the first fight but i was wondering whether it was due to after the third fight. Dont know if it was directed at EM but after the result MAB was showing two fingers (not in the Anglo-Saxon way ) to signify two wins against this man - then presumably came the showering of the water bottle Anyone please ?
Both rivals from the same country really. Marco was from a decent family from the 'posh' part of Mexico City whereas Morales was always considered to be the 'Street Kid' Barrera punched morales in a presser (2nd fight I believe) which added fuel to the fire and then after he beat him for the third time he rubbed it in his face. Basically Morales knew that the trilogy should have been 3-0 (and not for him) and couln't handle it
Seriously ?? The only fight in that trilogy which is even worth talking about is number 2. Barrera WITHOUT a doubt won 1 + 3 and in my opinion edged the second. 1 was a joke 2 was debatable but right 3 was clearly right
There was a social class element to the rivalry (see also: Tarver-Jones) as well as a regional and national thing. Barrera was what passes for middle class in Mexico, Morales was more working class.
I had Barrera a 114-113 victor in the first, counting the KD which wasn't one, though I've never scored the other two. I felt Barrera got the better of the trilogy no doubt.
I can't remember my cards for any of them..... but all three were pretty close for me. One of the best trilogies, up there with Holyfield-Bowe & Vazquez-Marquez in recent years.
