Without getting into the whole Morales vs Barrera debate that's been done to death, all I'll say is that while Morales is no angel either, Barrera is what he is.

Those two obviously have a deep animosity, and harsh words have been exchanged between them. Whether what Barrera said about Morales not accepting his friendship is even true or not, we don't know the situation fully. Sometimes you can accept someones hand, other times there's too much history. Those who are not love struck fanboys can understand this.

If that was Manny Pacquiao on ringside instead of Barrera I would say the same thing.

Look, I personally couldn't careless which fighter you preferred, but don't bring up your reasoning being because MAB is a bitter guy. Morales has proven himself to be every bit as bitter down the years. Do we now have people also suggesting MAB is put on a pedal stool for beating Hamed? I think whooping this Morales character twice had something to do with it, too.

Bob Shannon seems a strange cat. Thats the second piece I've seen of him where he seems to want his guy to win so he can get the credit as the trainer.

Maybe most trainers secretly think like that but not many articulate it.

Chill out there Jose, that was just in response to your little dig. It's an opinion, which may or may not be right. All I'm saying is that Barrera comes across as a very bitter guy to me. Morales has displayed that trait also but IMO has been more justified to feel that way. For example, being called "indio" by Barrera. You disagree, that's fine, but I'm no fanboy of any fighter.

and yes, I do think some fans only like Barrera because he schooled Hamed. I don't know if you're like that, so don't take it personally;)

 Its all invested on Lopez & Burns

Your Vcash total is a disgrace, no doubt you blew it all on Khan-Peterson or Prescott

If you had simply bet on Kell Brook you would be in profit & not stuck on 75

This would qualify as being petty, certainly.

I watched an interview involving both Barrera and Morales not too long ago, and they were both being asked numerous questions regarding the three fights they had with one another. I distinctly remember MAB being as respectful and humble as humanly possible whereas Morales was slipping in every dig imaginable, claiming MAB only fought 10 seconds a round in their first fight in 2000. That was just one example of Morales being petty and bitter.

I find it all quite normal. Fighters of this level aren't used to losing, and Barrera and Morales both being Mexican, they wanted to be revered as being the best in their country at the time. They were rivals. Roberto Duran was probably the most petty and bitter fighter of his generation, and yet when he refused to embrace Wilfred Benitez after the two fought he was impossibly cool because of it. Some fighters simply can't do any wrong, and Morales would certainly fit that description.

Yeah, I find your reasoning for preferring Morales over Barrera to be a tad strange all things considered.

    fair play

We will never agree on this. I could also point out regarding the vid you posted, that Morales acted like he did towards Velardez because of the personal things Velardez said. If you ask Pac what sort of a man Morales is, he would probably tell you he's a gentleman. Those two became good friends. I don't know him or Barrera personally, so I could be wrong like I said, but going by what I see, Morales is more my guy.

I agree, but Barrera is no different. Most great fighters can get away with acting in a way that if they weren't great fighters would get them trashed. That was my point, fan boyism, hero worshipping, whatever you call it.

 If you put down the coronas for a second Jose, you would have seen that my reasoning for preferring Morales is also because I grew to like his style more. Yeah, he also strikes me as a cooler guy, but that's just one of those things that can't really be proven because it's not fact. None of us know the full details of the feud between Barrera and Morales but the way I saw it is using a term like "indio" was pretty low, and so while they'e both been bitter, I just feel like the difference is that Morales had more reason to feel hurt and angry. He got whooped by Pac but still went to the Phillipines to hang with him. I do agree though, that he's not the most gracious guy either. David Diaz fight for example. Some will tell you Floyd is a nice guy, others will tell you he's an *******. To each his own, that's all it is.

    Anyway, Pac>both of them;)

Barrera and Morales have both shown themselves to be bitter and petty over the years, that's all I'm saying.

    Fair enough.

But you mentioned how you had gone off MAB slightly because of how you felt he was a little bitter and petty. That's fine, I'm just pointing out instances where Morales was guilty of the same thing. I don't see any distinctions at all between the two when it comes to this. Barrera is reluctant to praise Amir Khan just in the same way you will never ever hear Morales praise Barrera to the media. Perfectly normal.

    I prefer the Mexicans, personally.
