No way did Barerra win the second fight. He was out boxed from the outside and landed far less clean blows. 8-4 to Morales in that one.
Morales was better at 122 (although I thought Barerra won the first fight). Barerra was probably a little bitter overall, though, although the margin between the two is pretty thin.
Barrera landed the much better cleaner blows, Morales certainly wasn't outboxing him because it was a very close contest. 7-5 Barrera
It was, an absolute joke of a verdict, Im with you, I gave Morales 8 rds in that 2nd fight, clear victory. You can even see the frustration all over Barrera`s face throughout, both he & his corner knew he needed a KO in the last rd & obviously there was 0 chance of that ever happening.
It blows my mind that this is actually the 2nd fight you are talking about atsch I think its fair to say we score fights completely different
Barrera did very very little in that second fight. Great call by Foreman by the way, explaining before hand that this was going to be a technical battle because they know what each other have got from their first clash.
I think its fair to say your a huge Morales fan I'm a big Barrera fan (nto as much as you are of Morales to be fair). So we clearly prefer each fighters work but I do try to be impartial I did think 2 was very close and there was allot of close rounds. It was probably the worst fight of the series, action wise. I hadn't seen 2 before and my pre-conception was that Morales would have deserved the decision and was suprised I had it to MAB Now the first fight wasn't close, MAB dominated Morales, continually backed him up with BIG shots, hurt Morales many times. Morales just flurried back with quite ineffective shots, I'd say Morales only hurt MAB once. It should also be noted Morales is the much bigger man than Barrera and outweighed him in their final bout by about 10lbs on the night You do go a bit over the top with Morales, comparing his talent to the like of Jones and Mayweather is going too far
I think Jones & Floyd are the best since Whitaker/Chavez but it does annoy me when people dont even have EM in a top 10 & Barrera or Marquez are sitting in their no 6 spot or similar ****... there aint a huge gulf in class between the 3 Mexicans whoever you prefer. Morales had everything except a watertight defence but he had that great chin to cancel that out + he usually stopped or out-scored his opponent. I think Morales putting on so much weight in the 3rd MAB fight caused him to be sloppy & cost him the fight... he thought Marco was there to be taken & unlike the previous 2 fights, came in too heavy looking for the KO rather than view MAB as a legit threat. Morales weighed 140 lbs in the ring for the Hernandez & Pacquiao fights which were either side of the 3rd Barrera fight... those 2 fights were his best performances at 130 lbs & if he`d shown Barrera the same sort of respect Im sure he`d have won a clear decision.... but its easy to be wise after the event I suppose, I too thought he was gonna knock Barrera out so we`re both dumbasses.
The term robbery should be banned when talking about Morales- Barrera trilogy. All three fights were very close and hard to score in my opinion. I don't think I am exaggerating by saying I had them utterly even in their fights, basically in 36 rounds both won 18 rounds. Therefore, I have a draw for their trilogy. Had Morales been more in the outboxing style of his, he would have beaten MAB in my opinion but he was just too much of a warrior... Now, on a P4P greatness basis, Morales got the edge for his slightly superior resume.
