Barrera vs Azumah

You are using a ton of hindsight there. Remember Sanchez was criticized no end for another poor performance in the Cowdell mould against a novice substitute.

Of course the events of the following month, made that redundant.

 

Its a fight where I could see a big swing in the outcome depending on what versions turned up.

If Azumah comes in sleep walking a bit...He could very well lose a pretty clear decision..In a kind of fight where every round is closely fought but potentially a judge could score it quite wide for one man if they liked what they saw from him. I could see Barerra quite possibly being that man.

If Barrera comes into the fight with outside distractions..or a little overconfident. He gets stopped. I think a fired up Nelson would be hell for the Barerra that came up against Pac and wasnt prepared for what was thrown at him.

Both at their very best at the weight would have been one for the ages...But Nelson has always impressed that little bit more..I think Marco just achingly falls short in the defensive and discipline (he didnt mind a bit of war) departments to be able to hold off Azumah from owning the ring in there.
I think more often then a not fight between both at their very best ends in a Nelson decision win or late stoppage.

 

I didn't say Gomez gave him all he could handle anarci, I agree with you that he handled him fairly easily. I was speaking of Nelson.

 

Hmm.....well, Barrera was at his technical peak at 126. He WILL have to go to war at some stages, and I see Nelsons superior strength and power to get Barrera's respect.

Now, Barrera will adjust and keep Nelson on the end of his jab. But Nelson was prepared to come through that, and I see him backing Barrera up down the stretch.

Over 12-Nelson 7-5. Close as Hell.

Gomez and Lopez both came right at Sanchez which suited him. Castillo, Cowdell and Ford were all boxers. Maybe Sanchez couldn't of beat them more convincingly.

 

Check my post:bart i picked him in the 1st fight ,Nelson in the 2nd and Barrera in the 3rd. All of them close fights.

 

You have a point,many people thought that style wise the other Champ Pedroza would have given Sanchez a lot of trouble.

 

Apparently Nelson wins this fight on brute strength. Didn't know this was a weight lifting contest.

 

Barrera was no slouch in the strength department either. Ive never seen him out muscled,if anything i have seen him in fights where he was the stronger man,especially at 122. I dont think Nelsons differance in strength was enough to to bully Barrera around.

I'm gonna go ahead and pick Barrera here, who I think just has the pure better skills.

No shocks that most are picking Nelson, he's a great fighter. But I am a little surprised that so many are citing strength as the reson behind their pick. To me Barrera has never been the sort of fighter who could be bullied around and I think he'd be far too cagey and intelligent to allow himself to be "picked on".

This really would be a classic as well.
