    How would MAB do against Marquez resume?? We already know he got raped by Pacquiao and got busted up against the one and only Rocky Juarez on thier first fight(still won a CLOSE fight) but how about Salido and Chris John at 126? Casamayor, Juan Díaz and Katsidis at 135? Mayweather and Pacquiao at ww??? Your thoughts...

    Assuming he was in good physical shape and near to his best, MAB would only have ever been defeated by Pacquiao and Mayweather. I don't think the extra weight was the main factor for why MAB was being troubled by the likes of Juarez and co. it was because he had a long, tough career and it was beginning to take it's toll. Juan Diaz and Katsidis have nothing to offer 1999-2004 MAB. The size differences aren't enough to compensate for the disparity in ability.

    How would Marquez have done against Morales? There's a distinct possibility he would have lost at least once during a three fight series. Likewise, considering how close and competitive a past prime MAB was against JMM, how do you suppose the two would match-up if both combatants were at the height of their powers?

    You guys are forgetting the McKinney war barrera had which never left either fighters the same. Barrera ended Mckinley's career. The version of McKinney that Barrera fought beats any version of morales

    Barrera's next eight fights after Hamed were;
    Sanchez
    Morales
    Tapia
    Kelley
    Pacquaio(only loss)
    Ayala
    Morales
    Fana

    Given that that took him past prime I'd say that's a fairly solid resume.
    It used to be that you couldn't like Morales without hating Barrera,and now it seems some people are trying to do the same with Marquez.

    MAB fought the best in his bantam-featherweight days and those wars made him one of the greatest on those weights, but took a toll on him.

    JMM was "avoided" during his featherweight days, but had a great run when he first fought Pac, and he steamrolled featherweight up to lightweight ever since.

    Resume wise, MAB was better. MAB and JMM fought the same Pac, but JMM had the better off it due to their 4 fights. but other than that, still MAB is better.

    Marquez by Far now. Marquez #1 in the world for years now. Barrera was never #1 p4p in the world. :lol: Close resumes, Marquez's is a little underrated.

    They are both great fighters. Their resumes stand in highest esteem on their own merits.

    Juan just has Manny x4
    He is great because he is tied to him so closely.

    Other than Manny you see Marquez beating faded/shot names.
    I mean the Diaz fight was worthless, Diaz had just lost to Nate Campbell and would go on to lose to Paulie.

    Casa was beyond shot, I mean Santa Cruz arguably outclassed him and was blatantly robbed.

    Only real name you could throw up outside of Manny is Rocky Juarez.

    Barrera was shot when they fought

    Barrera AND Morales have better resumes.

    Come on, what defines Marquez legacy are those Pacquiao fights. He went life and death with Katsidis and Juan Diaz, both whom would have nothing to offer to prime Barrera or Morales.

    The fact that Barrera admits he couldn't figure Pac out should not be used against him when you consider that Juanma was put on this earth to give Manny nightmares.
    You have to judge their resumes on how both performed in their prime,and not on Manny Pacquaio.
    Barrera has a fabulous resume but that seems to be irrelevant just because he got nowhere near figuring out Manny.
    If only life were so simple.
    I hate this,having to get shitty about two of my ATGs.Why not just give both the huge respect they deserve without having to make forum enemies of them.

    Marquez' resume has some serious, serious depth to it outside of his famous fights with Manny, Casamayor, Diaz, Katsidis, and Barrera.

    He also owns wins over:

    * Salido (now top dog at feather something like seven years later)
    * Gainer (a champ at the time)
    * Manuel Medina (five time champ)
    * Robbie Peden
    * Rocky Juarez
    * Agapito Sanchez
    * Jimrex Jaca
    * Jandaeng

    JMM also completely dominated a guy named Victor Polo, who had been ROBBED BLIND in his previous fight against Scott Harrison. Polo had Emmanuel Augustus-esque bad luck with judges in his losses against Chacon, Harrison, and Medina and he was an uncrowned champ and top three level contender at featherweight with JMM beat him.
