I think so. I think it's an underrated classic by two great fighters. It's one of the best fights of the decade in my opinion as well. It's so sad that it didn't get fight of the year in 96. Tyson-Holyfield won foty for 96. My question is do you think that fight deserved fight of the year for 96??? Because I think so
Holyfield-Tyson 1 was one of the worst choices for Fight of the Year since back in the 70s, when they would just choose any random heavyweight fight. Barrera-McKinney was a classic and probably the best fight of 1996, although you also had Gatti-Rodriguez and Bowe-Golota 2. Liles-Littles 2 and Kelley-Gainer 1 were also excellent fights.
That was a great fight. I remember watching it on HBO live. McKinney gave his all, just was a bit outgunned. It was more exciting than Tyson/Holyfield but the significance and media hype of Tyson/Holyfield plus the fact it was pretty exciting, made Tyson/Holyfield the Fight of the Year.
