    Barrera-Morales is way better IMO. I even prefer Barrera-Morales I to Gatti-Ward I.

However the Vazquez-Marquez trilogy tops both of these. I think with time it's 'epic status' will grow.

Yeah, definitely. I'm shocked that I get so much pushback on this site when I suggest this. Goes to show the power of nostalgia. Time and posterity will absolutely vindicate Vazquez-Marquez as the premiere lower weight trilogy of the generation, IMO. :nod

Morales-Barrera. All better fights, better quality.
The first Ward Gatti fight was great but the sequels weren't competitive. In the Mab Morales fights there were differences of opinion as to who won what. I think Barrera won the first, Morales the second and I had the third a draw. The second and third Ward Gatti fights were pretty clear victories for Gatti.

    Barrera-Morales.

Gatti-Ward is overrated thanks to HBO and ethnic/American nostalgia (not too many Irish-American and Italian-American fighters now compared to the so-called "Golden Age of Boxing"). The 2nd and 3rd fights were one-sided. Ward was shut out in the rematch and won 2 rounds in the rubber match, one when Gatti broke his hand, and the other, Ward lost the first 2:55 of the round.

A bit harsh on Gatti I think, he fought the best of them.
