Marco Antonio Barrera vs Erik Morales II Round 1: 10-9 Morales Round 2: 10-9 Barrera Round 3: 10-9 Barrera Round 4: 10-9 Morales Round 5: 10-9 Morales Round 6: 10-9 Barrera Round 7: 10-9 Morales Round 8: 10-9 Barrera Round 9: 10-9 Barrera Round 10: 10-9 Morales Round 11: 10-10 Even Round 12: 10-9 barrera 6-5-1 Some of these rounds were murder to score. You could have had it for Barrera, Morales, or even draw - just like their first fight.
I think there's a misconception that Morales outboxed Barrera threw six rounds. The first round could have gone either way, I was being generous to Morales by giving it to him. They both tried to outbox the other, and Morales got the benefit of the doubt because he was a 2-1 underdog going in. Barrera was expected to go in there and show his superiority and it never happened, so they favored Morales - at least the commentary did. It was a close fight, could have gone either way.
I was at the fight, had money on Barrera and thought Morales got robbed. Everyone sitting around me also thought Morales deserved the nod.
:good I'm a notorious Barrera fan, but that is clearly what I saw. I also quite enjoyed the fight, I didn't think it was boring. Fascinating to see two greats like that have a chess match.
To me I thought Barerra was ripped off in the first one, Morales in the second and Barerra won the clearest decision in the third fight. What an awesome trilogy.
Same with me. I thought the 1st fight should have gone for MAB while the 2nd for Morales. Both are close fights, could have gone either way so I don't have a problem with the results.
I've still got my old scorecards, heres how I scored it: Round 1: 10-9 Morales Round 2: 10-9 Morales Round 3: 10-9 Barrera Round 4: 10-9 Morales Round 5: 10-9 Morales Round 6: 10-9 Barrera Round 7: 10-9 Morales Round 8: 10-9 Barrera Round 9: 10-9 Barrera Round 10: 10-9 Morales Round 11: 10-9 Morales Round 12: 10-9 Barrera 115 Morales to 113 Barrera
The first round and 11th could have been Barrera rounds, and purely on that basis, given how close they were, this fight should never be categorized as a robbery. That said, I have no issues with your scorecard.
It was a close fight, I had Barrera winning the first and third fights so it worked out right in the end.
