Yup. I can't believe I stayed up for it. Perhaps a vacant belt will pop up and Barrera and Morales can fight over it. Its the only chance either of them have of getting that historic 4th title.
Honestly, I was sad to miss it as it sort of snuck up while I was watching Narvaez-Zaleta...but in retrospect the super flyweight bout was a lot more entertaining (12 rounds of cat and mouse with Narvaez very effectively exemplifying "hit and don't get hit") so no regrets here. :good That was worth staying up for. :yep I'm glad Barrera-Arias popped up on Youtube so quickly, though. It's always a joy to watch Marco grit his teeth and throw those mean, nasty hooks.
Barrera definitely looks like he's got more left in the tank then Morales but Morales has been fighting semi-decent opponents whilst this guy was a shot to **** tomato can, Barrera needs 2 decent(ish) fights before he tries for a title at 135.
The ADJ that Barrera fought (and dominated) >/= the Lorenzo that Morales fought (and struggled mightily with, and got a borderline gift over) or the Alfaro he fought before that. Limond is certainly more skilled on paper than either of Barrera's recent opponents, but would certainly have been knocked out just as quickly by Barrera body shots as he was by Erik's, as poorly as he takes them.
He has more or less everything he still had a few years back at the lower weights, except his legs. He's morphed into a stationary fighter now, but if anyone can successfully morph mid-career and still be effective we know it's Barrera. :good
Did this Arias guy just start fighting within the last year? He's 43 and only has 16 or so pro fights, but was 15-1? He looked beyond terrible out there. I don't fault anyone for trying to earn some money, but he looked awful. I'd like to see the 15 people that he beat.
