I don't speak Spanish, and all the footage of these two trash talking on youtube is in Spanish. :? So I was just wondering if someone can break down where the animosity between these two comes from? And are they ever civil to each other between fights? Because I've seen some interviews where they're friends and some where they're enemies. And who do Mexicans prefer out of the two?
I think the more middle class Barrera called Morales an 'Indian' using a derogatory racial epitaph. Barrera probably felt ripped off in the first fight where he was robbed. I don't know the rest of the story though
I know it stems from backgrounds and attitudes, but I bet indignant pride on Morales part and rage on Barrera's part after that first decision ignited a ton of tension. When you think you won, and nobody else does, it makes you mad. When you didn't win and most people thought you should have, it makes you angrier. Been there, and I wasn't digging my opponent too much either.
They both disliked each other since before the 1st fight for whatever reason... all the way up until both were past prime & their trilogy was yrs old... they seem to be ok around each other now, they actually talk when in company so I`ve heard. Barrera always acted the good guy but he hated Morales as much as vice versa... he hit Morales at the press conference before their 2nd fight, Morales went for him & Barrera ran like a girl. I scored the first 2 fights for Morales... fights 1 & 3 were razor close, could have gone either way, Morales definitely won fight 2, Morales was slightly the better & greater fighter... I think most Mexicans agree with me but you`d really need to ask them that. Fight 1 was the best fight I`ve ever seen in full.... amazing, brilliant fight between 2 of the best fighters of all time in their prime & either at or close to their peak. :good
I`ve watched that 1st fight more than any other fight & anyone that calls that a robbery needs shot, I`d say the same if Barrera got the decision because neither man lost, it was 2 winners, most rds were a toss up & hard to score, each man continually answered the other, this was every inch a razor close fight. Barrera losing a decision was wrong... but Morales getting the decision was not wrong... both men deserved to win.
