I just watched an old interview of Barrera discussing his comeback, and his alliance with Don King Promotions. He wants to become the first Mexican in history to win titles in 4 different weight classes, and he feels by defeating Nate Campbell, he can do that. Questions: 1. Do you think Barrera can be competitive with Campbell at 135? I believe he can. He dominated Peden, a man who stopped Campbell not once, but twice. Also, Campbell doesn't really have any great wins outself of Diaz, and is a very old fighter himself. I think Barrera can be competitive. 2. If Barrera wins and becomes champion, where does he rank on your top 10 Mexicans of all time? I think he cracks the list if he was to successfully become the first Mexican to win titles in 4 different weight classes. 3. If Barrera loses, should he retire? Absolutely.
MAB did fight a few months ago, and he dominated his opponent, but the opponent of mab is not that good, I think mab still has chances to beat the likes of nate, valero and guzman, in his last few fights MAB has only been beaten by Pacman and JMM( a competive fight), losing to these elites is not a shame
i don't think Barrera can be competitive with Nate at this point. I'm a huge Barrera fan, but i don't see it. not anymore
1. Competitive, yes he can be but Id still favor Campbell, I think he would have a better chance against the winner of Pitalua/Valero for the belt. 2. I rank him 6 right now behind, JCC,Sanchez,Olivares,Lopez and Morales, if he beats Campbell Id put him ahead of Morales, if he beats both Campbell and JMM, Id put him to #3. 3. Yes, definetely unless he was robbed
Barrerra is shot to bits. He should walk away from the sport, he can only damage his legacy and his health at the present time.
Pac who? I've said it once and I'll say it again, Boxing does not start and stop with Manny Pacquiao. This thread is not discussing him, it's discussing the legendary Marco Antonio Barrera, who has fought his ass off for the best part of a decade.
Agreed But I don't think Campbell is all that good. He's lost to C levels in the past, and he is quite an old dear himself. This is winnable for Marco.
Campbell is old but very fresh. MAB has been fighting forever. I like both tbh but I would be rooting for MAB. i wouldn't bet on him.
I keep forgetting about Barrera's comeback. It's weird for you to call it an "old interview", I still feel like just yesterday he was a) with Golden Boy, and b) retired. :yep I guess it's because it's been such a quiet "comeback" for the most part... How many people saw his fight in China? How did he look? I don't remember a review of it here, that I saw only a result was posted. Actually, I'd like to see that whole card...is it copyrighted material? I don't see how it could be if it only aired on Chinese TV. Is it okay to ask for a link to it? :?
