"The reason I want to take this fight is mostly for redemption, Barrett told ONE News.
"You know to just basically redeem myself to the boxing community.
In his fight against Haye two years ago, that he lost by TKO in the fifth round, he infamously tumbled over the ropes in spectacular fashion as he attempted to enter the ring.
"This fight is not about money, Barrett says.

"It's not about anything but redemption, victory and me having my head held high as the victor at the end of this fight. "
"I'm up on top of my game; I've been training for the past two months..."

Looks like Barrett is SERIOUS and training hard. June 26 could be worth a look between TUA and Monte Barrett.

He has balls, but he's totally shot and his chin's been cracked many times.

    Tua by early KO.

Same old rewind from Solis, Haye and that big three chopper from Ukraine.

Barrett has not won a significant fight in years, this is a step down for Tua.
But I guess David Tua has no plans to actually fight for a title, he was offered to fight Brewster a while ago and declined.

    Boring!

Barret in his PRIME on his best day would get blown out by the worst version of Tua. Barret has always sucked.

I like Monte and the guy is a tough fighter... almost always out gunned but almost always brings it regardless, i was very happy for him when he beat Fields.

    That being said...

1 - This is such a pointless fight. Ill tell you, when you can beat your opponent by knockout in the first minute of the fight, and nobody would really care, your fighting the wrong opponent.

I dont understand the support for this fight, honestly. This fight not only proves nothing for Tua, the win will mean nothing. All this is, is a stay busy fight.... well alright then, but thats all it is.

Monte at this point in time is not even a step up from Friday, and i say that with respect. Monte is so past it, he honestly should retire.

I hope however, that Monte proves me wrong and gives Tua a good tussle, and a fight he can be proud of, then retire. He has nothing to prove or to redeem himself of, hes almost always fought his heart out and put on a good show. :good

Tua really, really needs to get his act together and step up.... there are plenty of fights out there, a matchup with Peter is a logical step for both at this stage and one that would produce fireworks, and actually be meaningful to both guys.

Gotta say im dissapointed with the fight....

    anyways, just IMO

    To be honest I'm surprised.
Surprised that they've managed to get a guy with as big a name as Barrett for the money on offer under the MaoriTV contract.
