The Western Bulldogs wanted Barry Hall to have another season in Melbourne but he decided to retire. The new Sydney team Greater Western Sydney then tried to entice Hall to play there next season. Hall had a guarranteed income from football for next season but has chosen to box. Name us a list of sportsmen that 'donate all the loot they make to charity'. Let's see how long your list is

They tried to charge $50 for Soloman Haumono v Cliff Couser so they will probably try.

Wrong. Unless you consider appearing on Mundine U/C's to pay him back the 700K Mundine payed the Bulldogs when he left mid contract to play union in France a charity.

There was a poll done on SEN radio this morning asking the question whether people would pay for a Barry Hall fight. The result was like 79% voting that yes, they would pay for a PPV fight involving Hall. So I guess there's every chance he will be headlining some fights based on the public interest he will generate. Remember AFL is huge in Victoria and each time Hall fights it will make huge news over here.

As for his credentials, there was an article in the Herald Sun yesterday mentioning that his dad had put a huge amount of effort into preparing him for a boxing career when he was younger, and was apparently shattered when he decided to switch to AFL.
I remember reading that at the age of 15 he was the Victorian super bantamweight champion or something like that.

Like some have said, I think he can win the Australian title (after about 5 or 6 tune ups of fighting bums, designed to make him look good), but that's about as far as he can go, which would be a good effort at his age & starting so late.

So far it's a list of 1, or if you take into account the money owed by SBW to Anthony Mundine, none. Looking forward to Sallywinder offering us his own list now.

He seems pretty serious about the boxing career so after the first few fights and assuming all goes well I reckon he'll start to test himself. I doubt he's in it for the money as he's made heaps from his footy career. By the time he's finished he won't be left wondering what may have been, that's for sure
