Boxers have been banned for hitting the ref and refused a licence because of serving time in prison. Banned for spitting, biting, slapping and fighting? I'm not so sure.
Lewis could have fought here again and the Lewis scuffle was live. He would go on and launch the first punch at Tyson.

Fair enough buncey, i suppose we will have to agree to disagree. I think a ban of 6/9/12 months would be ok, even if for 6 Derek didnt have a fight lined up, just for the principle of the thing.

Il agree with the sentiment of the thread though, having another promoter taking shots at another through the veil of this matter was a poor editorial decision by Sky.

Are you all privately educated? This stuff happens day to day in the schoolyard. It's handbags at dawn. I used to threaten to kill people on a daily basis when I was growing up but I never meant anything by it. Childish, immature, but in essence how Haye and Chisora acted, like a pair of angry teenagers.

What would warrant a life ban? Cheating in a way that endangered your opponent (e.g. something like Resto-Collins), hitting a referee or official, proven fight fixing etc.

A bit of context here. In December, we lost Russian fighter Roman Simakov in the ring, and it was reported by almost zero mainstream media outlets. In our sport, that we love so much, a man lost his life in a boxing match because the correct medical facilities were not in place. THAT was bad for the sport of boxing, and a ****ing disgrace and those involved should have been publicly decried (a WBC title was on the line). Haye-Chisora was two aggressive personalities having a scuffle, just like what happens outside most pubs on a Saturday night. Slap wrists, chunky fine, end of.

Then get Jose Sulaiman, who condones the beating of women, who allows cards that he sanctions to go ahead without proper supervision, and tells the media that one of his champions will punish a challenger in the ring, get that ******* in the media, and lets crucify him for the long list of damage he has done to boxing.

Im not referring to the scuffle - its the other stuff. you know the stuff that seperates the professional sport from the fights in car parks here in belfast or in the south with the gypos of with biting and kicking for £5000 to the winner.

Combine the threats to shoot some one (and mean it) In today's climate of gun crime, If you dont ban him you are condoning this rhetoric, spouted all over the press and tv, if the bbbc dont ban him, then they also must have an agenda. as this if definitely bringing the sport in to disrepute.

It s all about opinions not about calling each other this and that...there always going to be times where people disagree, but insulting other's is just the same as Chisroa/Haye..

Plus all this talk of a lifetime ban is absolutely ridiculous from a legal perspective anyway, not just from the moral highground so many seem to want climb up on. The European laws we are subject to these days mean that you cannot prevent someone from earning a living for lengthy periods, and it would be an unenforceable restraint of trade. We have recently seen the trouble British athletics authorities have had in enforcing lengthy bans for convicted drug cheats. So silly bans for 2 guys having a little scuffle in a poorly secured press conference, a spit or a slap??? Laughable. Almost as laughable as Adam Smith's persistent, "But if u were just a boxing fan what would you like to see happen?" questioning of Robert Smith, and Nelson's ongoing reading problems.

No-one on here is talking about a lifetime ban, your blowing it out of proportion the other way, like a few oither have.

If you think its acceptable to do that to someone in the street then fine, (although it's a crime) but professional boxers that are taught respect and discipline.

Lets all go about slapping and spitting in each others faces cos its ok its funny!!

 

Best post of the thread....I find it incredible that people are discussing banning people who make a living out of hitting one another for actually hitting one another. This sport has gone metro all of a sudden :-(

 

i know you seem quite slow on english comprehension so il encourage you to read the thread again. its nothing to do with the 'brawl', its the other litany of actions a professional sports star engaged in, with no professional consequences
