He seems like a very nice fella but he’s not the greatest broadcaster is he ? Why can’t we get an Al Bernstein? How did we have Harry Carpenter, Reg Gutteridge and Ian Darke pretty much round the same time and now we have this lot ? They made a fight seem like an event, this lot make everything a non-event.

 

Agree, imo an excellent pundit and one of the few I look forward to listening to. Always substance to his opinions and not just sound bites, plus he seems to say his true opinion and not just follow the script like a lot of the company men out there these days like a certain Mr Bellew

 

I totally agree. Barry Jones is excellent and always a pleasure to listen to. The same can be said of Carl Frampton.

 

I preferred it when fight nights had penguin suits and bowties as dresscode for punditry. Jones is an excellent commentator and a pleasure to listen to imo.

Matchroom shows have taken a turn for the worse in my opinion, in terms of production. This is likely because at 45 I'm now drifiting to the older end of what Matchroom would like to be their target market. I don't want to see little breakdancer bitches looking like they have a grime record for sale doing the commentary, all earrings and white sneakers. With that giant rat Diamante actually angering the crowd and viewing public with his antics, rather than making the occasion stand out.

Bring back black tie.,

I think it's just in his delivery really and sometimes I can't make out the accent or speed he talks, but I don't mind him. Richie Woodhall is the best of the pundits just now - straightforward and fair.

The likes of Gutteridge and Carpenter were journalists that didn't need a pundit beside them to fill the time, although Reg combined well with Jim Watt. I remember when ITV kind of left boxing Sky brought them over for Tyson-Holyfield 1 as it was such a big event, it really added something on the night.

 

I don't claim to be. I just find it ironic that you're calling a fella a simpleton when you don't even know how to use punctuation.

 

I don't think he has said anything of the sort, but also he didn't call anyone 'a bit simple' and 'a bit dim'.

 

Carl Frampton is one of the best out there. Love listening to him, just a bad choice in football teams, but nobody's perfect.
