tbh I'm growing to love Carl Froch. You have to take into account that everything he says is tongue in cheek but he gives the impression he's serious so well. As a fighter he's not bad to watch either.

I used to hate him but he's actually a funny guy and he's backed up everything he's said so far.

Decebal, what's your problem with Froch + Dawson?

Dawson, I used to be a big fan of! Loved his skills and heart! Thought he could be one of the best too, in future. His fans started to **** me off, though, acting like he was perfect in every way and could beat anyone really easily, but I didn't let that get to me. I was really looking forward to him fighting Diaconu (didn't give Diaconu more than a puncher's chance, 20% at best!)...

    ...then, this whole thing happened:

    http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1687125&postcount=1

Since then, Dawson's had his fight with Johnson, he didn't look like a world-beater, but still acted like the p4p No.1 and a prima donna.

When he lost the purse bid, he declined by far his highest purse ever (over $1m) and ducked Diaconu for good, going after Tarver, on whose back he's trying to make his name.

For me, Dawson represents ALL that is wrong with professional boxing, perticularly American professional boxing. The guy's a good family man, but otherwise, as a person, I have no respect for him at all. Hope he gets brought down to earth soon, for the sake of boxing.

Froch, well, it started out with his fans taking him really seriously, so I did too. Just like BigEars said, I always thought he was a twat, making all those statements about Calzaghe, Kessler, etc. Most if not all of his DIEHARD fans were really annoying and really defensive of his overthetop statements, so I took those statements even more seriously, because they did too!

Then, there was the IBF eliminator business:

    http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43794&highlight=froch+offer

Froch came out and said everyone was dodging him etc, Bute included, long after he declined to fight Bute in the eliminator, and how he'd KO both Bute and Berrio on the same night. That, I thought was just too much!

However, it struck me just now that he might be a Mayorga-type funny guy too (I couldn't stand that kind of acting up when Miranda did it to Kessler, etc., but I'm coming round to it). On the other hand, I know Froch doesn't just take the **** in every press-release. Some things he says 100% seriously, in a matter-of-fact way, are 100% false, like the Bute thing or the everyone ducking him thing, when Inkin dropped out and he couldn't get any of the big names to slot in at 2 weeks' notice. He knew what he was doing and it was downright criminal of him to make out that they were ducking him.

As long as Froch keeps releasing over-the-top-and-a-bit-funny material, AND fights the best, and gives his all in the ring, good luck to him! I like his aggressive tough-man puncher's style a lot!

But he should certainly stop making serious, false claims - for that, I cannot forgive him.

So, I am starting to come round to Froch, thinking of him more as a Mayorga type comedian, but I cannot bring myself to stop resenting him for repeatedly making serious false accusations in a 100% serious vain - that's just decieving the fans who don't know! That is just wrong!

To be honest, these days I am more annoyed with commentators hyping him up too much, like Barry, here, than with Froch himself.

    ...there, my confession.:good

I think Froch is pretty funny, certainly much more so than Witter ever used to be!

ITV will stop Froch getting the big fights with Taylor and Kessler as they will not stump up the cash. look out for froch vs manfredo jnr or sakio bika next up.

It has to be tongue in cheek, right? I mean, otherwise, all this talking in the third person and calling himself "The Cobra" and pretending he was a film character and saying he'd KO everyone, whilst still being a prospect, would make him a bit...odd, to say the least! The guy seems balanced, chilled out and fairly reasonable in interviews, not crazy at all, so either someone is writing all these statements on his behalf to make him notorious and bring him some publicity, or it's tongue in cheek, right? My problem with these statements is that some, at least, clearly aren't meant to be tongue in cheek - that's when he really rubs me the wrong way - the lies and hypocrisy are too much.

I think Froch is VERY dry

Saying that he could knock Jeff Lacy out in a round is being dry, surely

I agree with Flint though on Froch

The kind of guy you could imagine walking down the White Rose Centre with a machette just clubbing people
