Completely agree with Barry's comments on the issue of the attacks on the soldiers and the police.

And I agree with his comments on integrated education.

I'm happy to see that my old high school (Dominican College, Portstewart) is now fully integrated. That would have been unthinkable in my days there.

Barry grew up in Clones,Monaghan, which is in the Republic, not in Northern,Ireland,as he claimed in the opening of the video.

Weren't there two pizza delivery boys killed for "aiding and abetting the enemy" or has that been disavowed by the splinter groups?

I hadn't known that McGuigan was a unifying factor then; I hope his speaking out helps with the healing. Our (my church's and I, at least) prayers are with you guys in the area.

First of all, Monaghan is in the Northern part of Ireland and is located in the province of Ulster. It is a part of the Irish republic, but so is Donegal, the most Northerly county in all of Ireland.

Secondly, while his hometown was Clones, he spent nearly equal amounts of time on both sides of the border.

He represented Northern Ireland in the Commonwealth Games 1978 and the Republic of Ireland at the 1980 Summer Olympics.

So to take issue with the man's own testimony as to where he grew up, seems a little pedantic and churlish at best, and ****ing ignorant at worst.
