Yep, I don't mean to be overly critical of McGuigan, he was a very good fighter, but its a bad style match up for him.

Not too far off Hatton-Mayweather in how the general fight turned out (lazy comparision I know!!)

Barry had a great chin (when he was hydrated:hey )but I just don't think he could take 12 rounds of Azumahs bazookas.:kayo

I agree Gaz. I loved McGuigan but even at 15 I knew a fight with Nelson was a bridge to far...:yep

To me you've got a very, very good pressure fighter against an all time great close to his prime. Whats the pressure fighter going to do when "Plan A" isn't working?

Now THAT is a ****ing good question!!:good

My heart tells me that the Old Master would get a points decision but the results (IMHO) make strong case for the fact that a raw Nelson took Sanchez close to the wire, maybe a prime Nelson could beat Pedroza (who wasn't quite on Sals level IMHO).

If pushed I'd go for Nelson Pts.

    Great matchup Flea!!:deal

For both of them in their prime I see a Pedroza win...:yep Tough as teak and had the ring wisdom to old man Nelson out of it to a points win...:yep

Nelson would have stopped McGuigan - he was a beast and all wrong stylistically. McGuigan was effective at pressurizing and breaking his opponents down, but Nelson would have walked him down and McGuigan's weak point was fighting on the backfoot. Plus, he didnt have enough power to discourage Nelson going forward.

McGuigan was a top fighter in his day but Nelson was special.

Barry late stoppage. Those body shots would take their toll on Pat especially if he would be coming down to feather..

hard to say who'd really win, without them actually fighting, its pure speculation.
