McGugian was far too hittable for Manny. He would put up a brave fight, and give Pac some tough rounds, but in the end Manny plain and simple had too much speed, and firepower for Barry. Pac by late KO.
Pacman's footwork would allow him to glide into range, fire ,and be back out of range before Barry would be set. I think he would gradually break Barry down for a late stoppage. I'm a fan of McGuigan he was a very good fighter and is a genuinely good guy but he would be a trifle out of his depth here, imo.
I Like Barry in a lot of these type of Matches, But i did wince a bit at this one, i couldnt help remembering how Daniel Cabrera's quick Flurries caused Barry a lot of Trouble, Not a good match for Barry i fear,
While one can argue Barry never really fulfilled his potential I think this is a case of a very very good fighter vs an ATG. If Barry had one punch KO power then he could have a chance but he was more of a pressure fighter so Manny wins this after an epic battle with Barry gaining even more respect and affection in defeat.
It would be a fun fight while it lasts but I think Pac would be too much for McGuigan and stops him late in the fight.
I'm not certain, Pacquiao's record at 126 was mainly a stoppage of Marco Barrera and a draw with Juan Manuel Marquez. Barry had a stoppage of Bernard Taylor, a UD over Eusebio Pedroza and a decision over Juan Laporte. I agree he's the favorite but I think this was pre steroid Manny and Barry has a chance. Probably make Manny a 2-1 favorite
Styles make fights though and McGuigan's come forward pressure style gives Pac even more chances to unleash his firepower and hurt him. The whole steroid accusation is running stale and Pac has never once failed a test. If you're going to keep accusing him of steroids you might as well accuse every great fighters of being on one. I recall Erik Morales testing positive for a banned substance when he fought Danny Garcia.
