I used to dislike Barry when he was on ITV as a pundit as he has to have the last word. More recently though I have come to realise he seems to know his **** and I have enjoyed his views and knowledge. I'd like to see him more on tv. He was at his finest in shutting Jonny Nelson down on groves vs degale.
I like him, passionate about the sport and has got his own opinions. Just needs to let some other ****er get a word in edgeways occasionally.
Always liked Barry but for a while he did become the spokesman for War ren fighters. It did annoy me because Barry clearly didn't rate the fighters he was bigging up but was following the plan. He does try impose his thoughts a bit to much like last night but the man loves the sport and knows his stuff and i like what he brings to Sky. He doesn't sit on fence or pussyfoot around. Great addition IMO. Smith and Nelson sicken me. Smith ''and my favorite fighter of recent times Johnny Nelson''. Then Nelson later on ''I feel so used''. Deffo pair of shirtlifters.
Sometimes he seems really like he knows what he is on about other times not so much but overall I think he is very knowledgeable and is articulate and good on the panel. so in conclusion: Yay
A couple of Barry's best lines.. "I hate to say I told ya so, but I did say it would be a late round stoppage for Chris Eubank, and I'm right" "Watson is really groggy here Dave"
YAY YAY and thrice YAY for me. A little excited at times but he clearly loves the sport and knows his ****.
I do like Barry, but he is a bully, if he dislikes you that is it. He use to terrorize John Thaxton to the point it was uncomfortable viewing poor old John he was only trying to earn a few quid and got bullied by a midget.
I read nelson's book recently, extremely honest and he lacks confidence badly. He always seems like he's after approval from other fighters on ringside.
I'd like to see Watt in the studio with Barry rather than out ringside. Think him and Barry would add a whole lot more excitement and discussion in the studio. Both aren't afraid to give their own piece and aren't afraid to go against the grain. Shame they can't get someone to replace Watt at ringside though.
Jim Watt should be everywhere. He should be commentating, and then transported to the studio during the many ad breaks Sky so kindly fill the boxing with.
What sets wee Barry apart is his ability to express and get his point across, whether he's spot or talking nonsense. He's very articulate. Someone like Woodhall for example is a much better analyst/commentator/pundit but he's too nice and can't get his points across nearly as well. Btw i think Watt is the nearest we have to Bernstein and Atlas who are on another level. I've always defended him.
