A lot of the problem appears to be due to the personal history of the people involved. Didnt Hearn/Sky have an involvement with Carl a few years ago, (as mentioned by greamsey earlier i think) which turned a bit sour? Also Barry had legendary trouble with HIS promoter in his day.
This had a lot to do with this great fight falling through IMO.

Carl spat his dummy out over being asked to be on a Kell Brook undercard. Barry then started demanding a larger slice of the pie for himself which is why they went their own way.

McGuigan is now Carl's manager and promoter (which shouldn't be allowed) and as a result what's in his best interests isn't necessarily in Carl's, as we've see from the way he has butchered these Quigg negotiations.

if what hearn said in his IFL interview is true which i have no reason to think it would not be as hes basically telling the whole world , 3 different offers all very generous is being totally blanked is just ridiculous , BM as well as he comes off on TV and was a great champion in his day is falling very short now . i know eddie hearn is not loved too much on these forums at the best of times but it seems he has bent over backwards to try and make the fight , backwards and forwards 3 times with improved offers with the last one being a possible 60% which is huge when quigg is the champ . BM is not doing himself any favors here and could end up losing frampton over this in time .

This is true. Barry will be laughed out of negotiations if he accepts anything less. His negotiiating skills would certainly be brought into question. Eddie is a great P.R man and thats exactly what all this is.

You must agree with Hearn's take on this event. It appears that BM has taken this personally and realizing he is out gunned in every aspect of this offer,he just refuses to acknowledge that Hearn/Sky hold all the cards.
Barry is hurting the very fighter he is supposed to protect. How does he explain to Frampton that his next fight that he will be paid a fraction of what he could have made?
How does Frampton explain to his wife and kids that he is not making a wise decision as to their future after boxing and securring financial stability? The stupidity of the human being is never to be under estimated.:nut

We know cos Hearns' original pitch, viz-a-vis trying to make Fampton-Quigg (which he stuck to for months despite it being correctly criticised by all and sundry as laughably stupid) was a 2-fight deal ....with, as I recall a 50-50 purse split it the 'first' fight of a proposed pair of fights!

    Check it out.

The job of a promoter is to maximise profit by paying as little as possible.
If McGuigan's sons are the promoters how come they met with Hearn and not Frampton's manager (Barry)?

"Frampton's team" didn't include Frampton or his manager.

which of the two fighters is the main draw in the event? Quigg can only make an offer because his promoter has SBO, if sky do the right thing and give dates to other promoters then they get that but even a simpleton like you can see it isn't quigg who brings the money it's the rich kid

Hearn said he met with McGuigan's sons and Frampton and Barry didn't turn up. Do you think that Hearn is lying and that they were at the meeting?

I have always been 100% against the same person managing and promoting a fighter its wrong. I also find it stupid that team Frampton never done a deal with Hearn , and if true as it appears that McGuigan never attended a meeting with Hearn as Framptons manager, Frampton should get rid of him.

If Frampton's next fight is with Cyclone Promotions, the promotional company would maximise profits by paying as small a purse as possible. In a meeting with Hearn why was he represented by them and not his manager?

Eddie really opens up about it all in the second of his two IFLTV interviews. It vindicates what nearly all the SENSIBLE folk here thought in the first place, ie. the root of the problem lies with he who once said thank you very much Mr Eastwood. That's easier than trying to spell his name! :D

Eddie made salient points re how you shouldn't get too emotional in business, and towards the end gives a funny a.nalogy when asked about Joshua leaving. Well worth a watch regardless of whether or not you're a Sky fanlad.
