No. They were not. You should change your name to Aesop. You're pretty good at telling Tales.

Well the Mezger one certainly was, his leg folded under him, it was quite nasty.

Overeem less so, but still pretty graphic.

Then you are an idiot; Chucks record at 205 beats anybodies in the world.

This it does. But the point was about Chucks performance in PRIDE during the GP of which Dana was certain Chuck was going to win. He did not and got OWNED by Rampage so your point is rather academic.
As for Randy H2H vs the best PRIDE light heavys or heavys.. No. Just no.

I tend to think Wand would have beaten Chuck back in the Pride era. Shogun would have done it as well, and I think Rampage just has chucks number.

Good points on Overeem though. He hasn't really done a ton, other than actually holding the belt. His record doesn't quite live up to Overeem as the fighter he is now, much Like Coutures record doesn't serve him justly considering his career.. Of course Couture certainly has some huge wins, where Reem doesn't have as many.

I tend to think Randy is more a blown up light heavy, not really even fair to judge him against true heavies.

As for the point about Werdum, sure he has the single hugest win in MMA. But, he's also shown us he is very one dimensional. All he really has is his jitz, one hell of a dimension.

Randy vs Wandy was the original superfight. People didn't move on to Chuck vs Wand until Chuck knocked out Couture.

So Chuck lost a fight, and that means what? That Pride was better than the UFC?

Randy beat the **** out of Vitor, beat Chuck, beat the **** out of Tito when that meant something, to downplay his ability at 205 in the context of the time is a mistake.

The UFC was willing to send Chuck over to Japan, he went 2-1, nothing ever came back the other way.

The original point was theat people say Dana won't let his fighters fight "the world" yet he has, and got screwed.

Money wise it is a no brainer, no promotion offers anything financially to the UFC.

I think you've completely missed the point. Dana did so when it suited him. And when PRIDE was the premier org NOT the UFC.
If the UFC was interested in the health of MMA they would copromote. Pretty much most of the other orgs swap fighters. The UFC doesnt it wants exclusivity and does whats best for its OWN interests. Much the same way Dana offered Chuck to PRIDE in the GP because it suited their OWN interest.

And for the record yes PRIDE WAS better than the UFC circa the early 2000's. You and i both know that.

Three words of that post matter, "Dana did so"

He did it, it happened, never anything the other way around, even when Pride was dying.

Like i said academic. UFC bought PRIDE. They got all their fighters and Dana reneged on everything he said he was going to do with the brand.

    This was the point.

The fact that it is factually incorrect is not "academic"

I think Bas is showing alot of bias in counting Alistair's K1 success towards his MMA standing. Overeem has yet to defeat a top heavyweight in MMA. The fact of the matter is that the guys listed as Strikeforce's top heavyweights were defeated by the UFC's top heavyweights. Barnett lost to both Crocop and Nogueira prior to their entrance into the UFC. Crocop and Nog were defeated by the top UFC fighters. Werdum fought in the UFC and did well but was crushed by Dos Santos. Overeem lost to Chuck at LHW. Fedor never fought in the UFC but lost to a fighter that lost in the octagon.

I still think Fedor would beat any heavyweight head to head and I think Overeem has the tools to defeat anyone - but they have to actually do it first.

If you match Brock with Overeem it will end with Brock being ko'd. His duck and run for cover fighting style will get him hurt in this one. Carwin ****ed him up and Carwin is no where even close to Uber's level in stand up. Sorry Brock fans.

That's one way to look at it. Another way would be to say that Overeem won't be able to fight off Brock's double leg takedown the way Carwin did in the first round. OVereem gets put on his back quick, fast and in a hurry in the first round and gets pounded on by Lesnar.
