Bas Rutten joins UFC Hall of Fame in July

Arguing Bas Rutten's place in the UFC HoF is difficult. Bas did very little in the UFC, but he is very accomplished as a mixed martial artist. Bas was one of the best to ever compete in Pancrase. With the exception of a few fringe promotions, Pancrase was the only consistent form of mma happening outside the UFC. Bas has an impressive record and would deserve a place in any MMA HoF. If the UFC is only including UFC fighters, and excluding fighters from other organizations, it makes it harder to place him there.

Like him, or not, as a person...Bas Rutten is a legend. Rutten is 2-1 against Frank Shamrock, and split fights with Funaki. Frank Shamrock is the more accomplished mixed martial artist. Frank Shamrock should be in any legitimate MMA HoF ahead of Bas. Bas was every bit the prototypical mma fighter Shamrock was, and deserves to be placed in any legit hall of fame.
