Based on styles and huge size disparity would Benavidez had been Hagler's Kryptonite

I know 168 didn't exist back in Hagler's era, but I was think about this matchup all night. Magler crushed Hearns at 160 but Benavidez would be a totally different animal. I honestly think Benavidez would be too big, strong, and powerful for Hagler. I see late stoppage if it's 15 rounds and wide UD if 12 rounds. Thoughts?

I think Hagler would have crushed him, the guy has one of best chins in history, no way Benavidez would have stopped him. I think David just smoked Andrade, but these threads are getting absurd. Hagler is one of the greatest middleweights of all time, I don’t see anyone active at 160 or 168 beating him.

    Same day weigh-in,15 rounds @ 168.

The robust, ridiculously healthy and happy-to-be-the-smaller guy, Marvelous Marvin Hagler (aka The Energizer Bunny) boxes like the virtuoso he was for 10 rounds (maybe fewer) and then suddenly assaults the emaciated and exhausted Monster with exceptional violence like Guderian in France. The Monster succumbs shortly thereafter.

So beating one of the most mediocre champions in recent memory Demetrius Andrade.

Now means you beat top 3 Middleweight of all time...but not only that possibly stop him ? When Hagler has top 10 P4P best chin of all time ?

Like what is it with you regarding modern fighters and flavour of month mentality ? Your takes are some of the worst I've seen on this forum.

Hagler was a little guy, in today's era of next day weigh ins he would have fought at 154 lbs. He was only 5'8.

i dont think a guy like benavidez, who's very dependent on his durability and power is much threat for hagler. he doesnt have the skills to keep up with hagler and i dont think he could handle haglers volume and power. i think the guys that are bad for hagler are maybe fighters like McCallum, Toney, or Hopkins who are very defensively responsible, durable, can throw combos and are good inside. i think benavidez gets broken down and stopped before the 10th.

Canelo is 5'8" and may well stop Benavidez even in his dotage.

Who is "they"? Don't dissemble. Say what you are trying to say.

Nicely said. Seem to be a board issue as well re: flavor of the month posts.

One's gotta give these potential greats a little room to breathe in terms of expectation. One undermines them making such extravagant comparisons so soon after they gain a bit of notoriety. That said, I suspect the OP is trying to build a brand, so of course better to be silly, loud and relentless than good. Any attention is better than none, amirite?

This is stupid. Benavidez would outweigh Hagler by 20 pounds maybe more on fight night.
Andrade was 190lbs according to Victor Conte, Benavidez probably the same if not more given the fact he can probably rehydrate even more at 26 than Andrade can at 35.

Hagler didnt even look much bigger than 156lb blown up lightweight Duran.

So Benavidez will destroy Oldnelo the 5'8" bowling ball?

You can go either way here: Benavidez has to make 168 on the day of the fight and and then face Hagler over 15 rounds who has been training as usual but having licence to bulk up a little if they think it's the right move. You can have that or you can have Hagler enjoy the benefits of such as Conte and still train like that and Benavidez still has to make 168, he just has another day to recover and then he has to go face enhanced Marvelous Marvin Hagler.

Doesn't seem like any kind of a good choice to me.

You shouldn't throw words like "stupid" around because maybe it's you.

If he couldn't stop Plant, no chance in hell he is stopping Hagler.
