Based on styles, Mayweather-Pacquiao cannot possibly live up to expectations

I mean after all the drama plus a (somewhat recycled but still pretty interesting) 24/7, it's still going to be a defensive wizard fighting a much improoved boxer-puncher in a high caliber chess match. It will be a boxing masterclass, and I'm cool with that, but it will simply not, cannot produce the kind of fireworks expected by the average sports fan who's not into technical-tactical beauty but boiling blood and brawl. It will be about angles, timing, footwork, ring IQ and sharp shooting, heated high caliber sweet science, a bit too one-sided, but rather a masterclass than class conflict resolved in revolt. :deal

The fight will produce all the expected numbers, but numbers don't save boxing, exciting superfights do, and major newspapers will point out the lack of success in that area. Sweet science it will be, fearless fistfight will not. What say you?

If Mayweather can keep it boring and pot-shottish, so it will be. But, I think Manny is one of the few who can force Mayweather into unleashing his arsenal, in which case, it could get very exciting. I remember when Emanuel Burton forced Floyd into letting it all go and it was something.

i think in this fight money is going to bring the fight to manny after two or three rounds, cus he is a dog a gorilla.

    he talk the most ****

he is going to surprise alot of people. for some reason i think he stops manny in round 11 in a good fight.

mannys constant pressure will force fkoyd to throw acurate shots mybe more accurate then we have ever seen because he wil be in his face all the time. especially throing the right hand and left hook. the accuracy and speed wil catch up with him in the end

im going to put a bet on this

It won't be a Barrera/Morales, that's for sure. And because of this, yes the casual sports fan that will be caught up in the hype whilst passing by, will be pretty dissappointed.

But with Floyd that's what you get - the sweet science that will only ever be admired and appreciated by boxing fans. But who knows, Floyd may open up be that little more aggressive like he was in the Mosley fight.

Either way, it won't be as competitive as it'll be hyped up to be. Pacquaio will be made to look ordinary, because that's what Floyd does. *******'s too good.

Drama and hype can create excitement too.

i think it will resemble the Hatton fight....not the actual fight but how it went in terms of excitement...

i think Manny will of course force more action however being as cagey and tricky as Floyd is he will force a lot of rough housing and tie-ups in the midst of a lot of good shots being thrown....

i think it will definitely give the people the excitement it needs simply because this will bring out a lot of passionate pac fans and Floyd fans

i cant see this not being exciting....Pac wont let it not be but Floyd will always show his brilliance

The fight might be similar to Pacquiao-Cotto fight.
Pacquiao's overall speed is faster than expected. Even Mayweather might be surprised.

In my opinion, Mayweather can not adjust Pacquiao' style until the end of the fight.
The fight will be tense and exciting in the beginning;however, once Paquiao grasps the momentum, the fight will be one-sided.

I am not saying that Floyd is inferior to Pacquiao. Style makes the fight.

I think the beginning part of this fight could be decisive factor.

Whoever takes the initiative in the earlier rounds, would steal the rest of the fight.

I think that would be Pacquio.

Once Pacquiao got the right distance and his groove which is normally after the first round, the excitement will start.

At its highest level, it seems like most sports are now more about technical brilliance rather than pure excitement. I actually read an article where the author defended UFC's Georges St. Pierre's reltavively dull style. The author stated that fans should appreciate St. Pierre's technical proficiency and also stated that fans should go watch boxing if they just want to see two guys pummel eachother. How ironic. Things have changed in both sports.

I can tell you right now, neither Pacquiao or Mayweather want this fight to be a war. You don't see Pacquiao going all out and throwing haymakers anymore. He has a lot more of a controlled style. We all know what Mayweather does. This fight will be a chessmatch and will only turn into a war if Mayweather is in danger of losing late in the fight.

Like someone has said, it's not going to be a Barrera Morales type bout...toe to toe for 12 rounds. But I still think this bout is going to surprise a few people, as in it will be a very exciting and competitive bout. I see Mayweather being a lot more aggressive in this bout, trying to keep the centre of the ring and away from the ropes.
Pacquiao has the ability to in my opinion to make Mayweather open up a bit more...but whether he can achieve this is anyones guess.

You never know though...neither boxer will have been in a bout of this magnitude before (both De la Hoya bouts being the closest), so the hype and anticipation may get to them...and it could turn into a 12 round war (although it's definitely more likely it will turn into a 12 round chess match with a few toe to toe moments).

I think there styles could make for an exciting fight. I mean there is a possibility that the fight could be a very technical fight only to be enjoyed by the purists but on the other hand both guys play to the other guys weaknesses.
Floyd struggles more against southpaws and pressure fighters than anything else so i expect manny to have success if he can keep the pressure on for the full fight. however Pacquaio struggles more against counter punches and hes probably facing the best counter puncher in the world in floyd. I also think Floyd will fancy his chances more against manny leading to a more aggressive fight.

Plus even these two guys will be under pressure on the night to perform after the super hype it will get running up to the fight (if it happens) which may force them into taking more risks.
