Based on their last fights, who do you now lean towards to win the fight?

Still 50/50...Floyd doesn't have the legs that he used to. Got hit ALOT against Cotto.

Manny Clearly beat Bradley but seems to have lost some timing, footwork and punch output.

I can make a case for both fighters but I edge slightly for Floyd by UD...manny throws punches in bunches but leaves himself way off balance of late

 

People think that Floyd is getting old and getting hit more but it's just not true. Floyd rolled so many of those punches. Compubox confirmed what I saw which is De La Hoya connected more than Cotto. De La Hoya is 7 years older. Cotto threw 100 more punches and landed 57 less. Floyd's defense IMPROVED over the last five years. He made Oscar miss 70% of the time and made Cotto miss 85% of the time and arguably Cotto was a better fighter the night of the fight.

Anyone who thinks that Cotto was not completely dominated that night should watch the fight again.

The thing is Floyd rarely does pivot when throwing his counter-hook. The Hatton KO is a rarer moment of perfect timing with that KO power punch from Floyd. Bradley was trying to turn Manny all night, but too far outside, not behind him like JMM does. Floyd's lack of lateral movement is his biggest liability. If Pacquiao fights as dynamically as he has in the past, he could win. If he neglects moving rightward and isolating Floyd's right while opening up his own left (like with Bradley there), he'll fall into the traps again and again. But I doubt he gets stopped.

Leon made good points about the Corley fight; Judah may have caught him and confused him for a stretch, but whenever Floyd got reckless trading with Demarcus, he got punished worse.

 

I don't know what you're seeing but Floyd uses that same check hook on all come forward fighters. The Hatton check hook was not new. He has had that punch in his repertoire from the beginning and continues to use it -- the Hatton punch just made it famous. He used it against Cotto several times.

Floyd does not lack lateral movement. He's not moving like he did against Corralles, but no one else is either. If you check the Cotto fight again, you will see Floyd moving laterally when he wants and Cotto actually grabs him to keep him on the ropes, but he moves anyway. The thing that many people don't understand is that Floyd likes the ropes, and doesn't get hit much or hard when he is on them. He's completely comfortable there.

Floyd fought Corley and Judah very differently than he fights now. My theory is that he was more aggressive against them because he knew them from amateur days, had been in the ring with them before and wanted to stop them. Either way Floyd will not fight that way if he faces Pac. Pac will fight the same way he always does, which is why he won't win.

 

I simply don't think Pac will fight the same way he fought the last 2 fights if they face each other. Floyd can't change much as I know how skilled he is but aggressiveness will take the fight. Stamina will be the biggest part of the game. Seeing Pac didn't have great stamina his last 2 fights, it will be different if they fight.
