Was just thinking about fighters that, basically, had no Champion caliber tools for a number of reasons. I might start by mentioning a few that come to mind but many superior minds to mine might come up with a plethora of others: Sidebar; could we restrict comments to pre-1990's fighters? Cyclone Hart: we all know how numbing that big LH was; when he fought him early in his career Hagler said he didn't know where he was! Mike DeJohn: I believe Liston said no one had ever hit him harder! Kosie Smith: I've never seen Galindez so stiff and frozen solid after that bomb he took! Two-ton Tony G.: If it landed, you were either out or praying for the bell! Wife working late; imbibing on some Merlot and listening to "Wheels of Fire". Superior minds weigh in please
Bad scouting. Butler could punch like the Dickens. As I have recounted, Lamon Brewster still claims the hardest he was hit was at the end of Butler's left hook.
