Basically is it safe to say Lewis beat VK because he punched him TOO hard?

When a boxer is cut and deemed can't continue, he loses. No ifs ands or buts about that. The guy literally had holes in his face. His career could've been ended had they let him fight. Just like if Vitali was beating Lewis all 11 rounds and get KO'd in the 12th, He still loses.

Why are Klitschko fans so sensitive?

Lewis had talked about retiring after fighting Evander Holyfield in 1999.

    I know....

No one talks about a 38 year old Larry Holmes beating the young Mike Tyson....... or a 38 year old Muhammad Ali beating a young Larry Holmes.......

Oh ...... er......... that never happened. :D

Klitschko had his moment to take the belts away from the old champ. But he wasn't good enough And that fight tarnished his weak legacy for good. :!:

I can't believe you, of all people, have got the nerve to say that.

Anyway, I agree with the rest of your post. Vitali was winning, the cut was caused by the laces on Lewis' gloves, and Lewis refused a rematch for the fear of losing.

This is the way I see it. Lewis obviously past his prime, outta shape. Vitali at his best, prime. When these 2 are mentioned automatically reminds me somewhat of the Thrilla in Manila where both had their moments, could of gone either way, but because of the horrific facial damage one was sustaining, even though he looked the fresher of the 2, ended up being the loser. Like Frazier, Vitali wanted to continue. Like Ali, Lewis looked gassed out. But guessing how much longer Lewis and Ali could of continued is just that, a guess, because no one really knows how much longer they could of continued with their onslaught. Turn the tables around and Vitali would be considered the best thing since sliced bread and even still wouldn't get so much credit for beating a past his prime Lewis as he would if he beat a prime Lewis. That's just tough luck.

Please, cut the bs. Lenox had everything to prove after that fight, he's legacy was hurt big time after he bailed out on the rematch.

Yep. Being wobbled in the 2nd and down 2-4 on all score cards proves it. :nut

Vitali almost got his eye ripped out. That was one of the biggest PURE ass whuppins I ever seen in my life.

Guys like Tyson, and Marciano, when they fought their aging champ, they beat the **** outta them.

****, Tyson beat a Holmes who 4 years later went on to beat the **** out of a PRIME MERCER and hand him his first loss.

Remember, OLD MAN MERCER 41 years of age, is WLAD's BEST WIN!

When Vitali met his OLD and FAT champ, he got the **** beat outta him, his EYE ALMOST RIPPED OUT, and he was HOLDING ON LIKE A HOMOSEXUAL.

You need to see the fight again and the replays of that punch. It was a hard shot ... bang on target.
