Old and fat champ? Lewis was 37. He was still the #1 boxer, unlike say Larry Holmes when he fought Tyson (coming off a lay-off).

Foreman suggests in the commentary that the extra weight kept Lewis from getting knocked out.

Saying Lewis was old and shot is like saying Vitali is old and shot now. They may be past-prime but they remain da best..........

Great fight but Lewis got lucky with that cut, and he used his dreads to mess it up further as much as possible.

However I agree that at the time the fight was stopped the momentum was all Lewis, and Vitali was in serious trouble.

Great fight, great win for Lewis, but it's significant that Lewis didn't want that rematch.

 

So supposedly Lennox opened up Vitali with a grazing punch? Really? Well then I'd hate to see what Lennox would of done with a clean punch. Win or lose you gotta give respect to both guys. Vitali fell short, but I still think it was something of the passing of the guard. Good fight.

im no klitchsko fan, but he was getting the better of lewis . No one can say for sure what would have happened had the fight continued.
