I reckon Carmen stops Gatti within ten rounds either on cuts or referee stoppage to save Arturo from further punishment. Carmen could dish it out and take it better than Gatti, and he was also the better infighter and harder puncher with the better chin. Since these two are more than likely to meet each other head-on the above attributes will see Carmen walk away with his hand raised in victory in what would likely be a FOY candidate.
I thought this was a thread about an out of the ring relationship between Carmen Basilio and John Gotti then! Haha, well i'm pretty confident Basilio would stop him at some point, an accumulation provoking type win.
Carmen Basilio fought the mob but he wouldn't have come out on top against Gotti! :good I agree with the posts above mine. Gatti would take quite a beating from Basilio, especially because Carmen doesn't really have big knockout power. He would punish Gatti, with Gatti trying to fight back furiously, until he has nothing left in the end. I felt his best weight was 130, when he had a huge size advantage over most of his opponents.
Me too!! I tuned in anyway, as the ages of Basilio and John Gotti made it somewhat improbable, but I'm glad it's about Gatti instead. I think Basilio would have snuffed out Gatti as all the upper echelon fighters did who fought him. No disrespect to Gatti, but Basilio would have been way too much for him and would have stopped him before round 10.
