Kotey, with an 11-12 record, is a late replacement for 8-2 Samuel Akrogo, and in his last bout was stopped in 2 by Lamptey.

Okine might score this upset. Slower and steadier, just pumping in right hands patiently and finding the quick but careless Ayi fairly often.

About to catch up on yesterday's main event now...had been watching the card on my phone during the drive into NYC, but the co-main was still dragging by 7pm EST/midnight local time in Ghana when my gf and I had to run into a Broadway theater and see Hadestown (and I didn't wanna be that guy watching sports on my phone while a bunch of stuffy WASPs glared down their noses at me )

I've managed to avoid knowing the result.

Was trawling day by day through BoxRec to see if 2019 had any other remotely notable cards in store for us besides Tank vs. Gamboa on Saturday and Ioka vs. Cintrón on Monday...and Bastie's name jumped out at me bc I used to be a big fan in his early prospect days.

They were...the undercard at least. Ghanaian cards tend not to feature that much parity. Usually local boys fed a steady diet of bumpkins from Nigeria or elsewhere.

    Round 1

Samir bending forward lazily to dab some light jabs on the body, then ponderously shuffling after straightening up, taking a minute to get his "ring legs", shaking off rust, footwork looking a tad rickety and wooden. Ajuwa for his part just plodding around in circles, waiting on Samir, pinching his forearms together very high to cage his face, with his elbows by his nips. Wild slapping hooks by Ajuwa, doubled up with the left and then one looping right, all telegraphed and none passing Samir's guard. Right uppercuts and left hooks on the body from Samir as he tilts down, his upper body movement a little more fluid than his feet, which he still appears unsure quite where to stick. Lumpy jabs from Ajuwa, countered by power shots by Samir, headhunting and dinging the sides of the head and earmuffed gloves of Ajuwa. Double jab on the body and then double left hook up top by Samir. Now a frenzied attack of wide left hooks and whistling overhand rights from Samir, causing Ajuwa to either bow low to his side or dive in to clinch, shipping punishment either way. Samir hooks away frantically, wobbling Ajuwa, who spends the whole final minute clinching (except for one stray counter left he does get in on the chin of Samir).

    10-9 Samir

    Round 2

Samir whacks Ajuwa with a left hook across the jaw, causing him to lose his mouthpiece and shake his right glove, indicating that it may have been hurt in an exchange, perhaps from blocking. A few more hooks get through before the ref is able to intervene and signal a break for it to be replaced. Ajuwa continues to complain of the hand - it either genuinely pains him or he's looking for an escape route. Samir keeps swarming with hooks to head and body with Ajuwa doubled over, not fighting back, and the white towel comes in.

    TKO2!

The Beast is now 18-0-1 (17) ...but is 33 and has frittered away probably 99% of his damn prime. :shakehead:
