Nawaphon Kaikanha vs. Amnat Ruenroeng 12 Rounds @ Super Flyweight

    Round 1

Dominant opening round for Amnat, he threw more leather in the first than he usually throws in most of his fights, landing in combination on the defenseless Kaikanha, snapping his head left and right, Kaikanha fired back a little, but was beaten up throughout.

    Ruenroeng 10-9

    Round 2

This is a thrilling match!!! Kaikanha comes out far more aggressive looking to take the fight to Amnat, Amnat dishes it back, bot landing savage volleys of punches to each others heads and ribcages, Amnat getting the best of it occasionally throwing in jabs and straight rights, Kaikanha was wobbled at the end of the round.

    Ruenroeng 10-9

    Round 3

Kaikanha has turned the tide in the 3rd, Amnat looks like he may have blown his load going all out in the first and second, Kaikanaha landed pulverizing combinations up top, flying Amnat's head a few times, and focused on is old body banging it like a drum, but Amnat hung in there and landed his fair share.

    Kaikanha 10-9

    Round 4

Amnat comes out with renewed vigor making his stand, unloads a ton of overhand rights, bombing Kaikanha to the side of the head, hurting him several times, but Kaikanha powers through in and goes to town on Amnat ripping him to the body and up top, hurting him multiple times, nearly dropping him with several flush overhands before the end of the round, Ruenroeng badly staggered.

    Kaikanha 10-9

    Round 5

Ruenroeng comes out looking to make his last stand, crouching down and unloading massive overhand lefts and rights to the cranium of Kaikanha, several rock him, but midway through the round Kaikanha takes control again, landing a series of one twos up top, a combo rocks Amnat, hwho staggers back towards the ropes, Kaikanha going all out, Ruenroeng turns his back flops over the ropes, the ref should have stopped it, but didn't, Kaikanha turns up lands a one two on the button clean, Ruenroeng goes down and he's out, it's ovah!!!

    Kaikanha wins by KO

As much grief as I've given Ruenroeng on here over the years, he went out like a boss, he knew if he played his horrid counter punching game with Kaikanha, he'd lose wide or be slowly beaten down, so he make the decision to go to war, he paid for it dearly, but went out like a badass on his shield. That should be in the running for fight of the year so far.:ggg It was brutal and damn exciting in spite of knowing the outcome ahead of time. He needs to retire ASAP after that, no better way than to go out, than in a blaze of glory.

For the record, Ruenroeng was a mere year or two ago a stylistic boogeyman for many in the Flyweight division, he handed the great Kazuto Ioka his one and only, albeit undeserved IMO loss, and he schooled Zou Shiming right in his backyard and took the 0 of Arum's ticket to the Chinese market. But he made the terrible decision to compete in the Olympics after being KO'd in the rematch to Casimero, which didn't go very well for him at all. Since coming back to the pros, he was beaten from one side of the ring to the other by promising Chinese prospect Wenfeng Ge last year. Ruenroeng who is usually a repulsive to watch Andre Ward type spoiler however decided to uncustomarily go to all out war tonight, against fellow Thai KO artist Kaikanha Por Chokchai, who himself is coming off of a his first loss, by KO to Juan Hernandez Navarette. Which proved to be a fateful decision, that saw poor old man Ruenroeng KO'd more or less cold.

Wonder if his performance had something to do with missing weight, and thought he'd go all out from the off...

That's a great fight. It's particularly nice to see how those Asian refs actually let fights go to their natural conclusion, not interfering with the action when someone gets wobbled, and most importantly, allowing a definitive KO end to a good match. Some squeamish western ref in the UK or US would've halted that prematurely.

Possibly, or perhaps he just thought this was could be his last hurrah, so he went all out ad tried to put on a show, and secretly hoped the tactic would work, and it almost did a couple of times, he had Kaikanha rocked on a few occasions.

If the young Thai prospects would fight each other a bit more in the early stages of their career then once they start getting the international fights. they may not fall apart as much,,, love to see it when Thai fighter hits the world stage and is a good one.. Sahaprom, Eagle and of course Sri-saket have fared well..

That's it for Ruenroeng hopefully, nice that he could make a fist of it in the end.

ruenrong scuffs his punches too much, he fought well but doesnt get those knuckles down and through the glove. kaikanha just outgunned him with real power.
