Battle of class b fighters Amir Khan vs Katsidis who wins!

I haven't seen enough of Katsidis to comment really, buit Khan is a good fighter who gets too much stick and will probablly carve out a decent career for himself.

 

in a years time, khan ko 7. katsidis doesn't have the best chin either (graham earl nearly ko'd him in a war and khan then stopped graham earl in about a minute in his next fight) and khan's a far superior boxer, if he doesn't get into a war, he should take it.

khan hopefully will learn from his last fight, he should have back pedalled after getting hit by prescott instead of trying to go toe to toe like calzaghe does after getting knocked down, he's not got calzaghe's chin. but that's lack of experience for you.

it's as close to a knockdown as you'll get. in fact if it hadn't been classed as a kd and taken a count, earl may have stopped him, his legs had completly gone.

but either way what a fight, definatly one of the best fights of 2007.

 

That fight totally ruined Earl though - in his two fights since then he has lasted a combined total of 141 seconds.....

If anything that fight proved Katsidis has a good chin taking some big shots ,as with Amonsot and Casamayor

I actually think that it is pretty insulting to Katsidis to be comparing him to a novice who has just had his pan knocked-in in less than a minute in his last fight, while all the time Katsidis has been mixing in a class above and is coming off a close enough defeat to one of the divisions best in Juan Diaz.

Also if styles make fights then I would say that Katsidis' style is Khan's worst nightmare; someone with high workrate, a very good dig, a decent chin, and who likes to get in close and work his opponent over in the inside.

 

Khan's biggest problem, other than his chin, is his lack of ring-savvy.

When under the pump, so to speak, instead of clinching or getting on the bike, he decides to out-slug the opponent.

Bearing in mind Khan has 14 TKO's, but is yet to knock someone spark out with a single shot, it suggests (correctly) that his power is cumulative. Allied to the blistering handspeed it works against smaller men and C level fighters.

Put him in there with someone his own size with a decent chin and workrate, it is game over. He cannot fight up close to save his life, yet seems completely unable to avoid getting dragged into a war.

See the Limond and Gomez (especially) fights for examples. I maintain to this day that Limond beat him, whilst the Gomez of 2003 would have finished him off, beyond question.
