Benn was the naturally bigger man and the harder puncher, while Briscoe was more durable (only stopped once in nearly 100 fights) and the more skilled. Benn was a mini-version of Patterson and Tyson with a killer punch and a tendency to go out all-guns-blazing, while Briscoe epitomised the "Philly Toughman" who would never quit and who was always a danger to fight. Bonus question: was Monzon's draw in his 1967 fight with Briscoe fair? If Briscoe was going to Argentina to fight Monzon and got a draw, that on its own suggests to me that Bennie win.
Benn has the power but so does Benny I think Benny is hell for Benn. Benn would come out to bomb like he did in his Middleweight days and Benny i think can soak it up and put on the pressure and body shots to wear down Benn like Eubank did and win a mid round KO
i think briscoe devestates benn to the body and forces him onto the ropes ........anything can transpire from here on but the fight is ending soon either way.
If this fight grounds on into the late rounds I certainly have more faith in Briscoe getting the upper hand..His body punching would more then likely be paying dividends by then and I think Nigel would have been working overly hard to win rounds. There is very little chance that Benn stops him early IMO...as hard as Nigel hit, Bennie just didnt go out like that. Its a tough one...I definitely see Benn picking up some early rounds and quite possibly holding on to the victory..He is capable to stopping Bennie aswell, I just think it is unlikely. Im not sure there is film of the first Briscoe fight...but from every report I read it could have gone either way. Scoring was weird in Argentina around that time..I think any bout that came down to couple of points between the fighters was called a draw. So it doesnt necessarily mean that Bennie was robbed..Carlos could have won a close decision but it was to close to award him the win under Argentinian scoring. But then again so could have Bennie. I havent really read a definitive report on it..just snippits that say it was a tough, close fight.

Briscoe in his prime destroys Benn. Benn was an exciting but flawed fighter at 160lbs. Prime 168 Benn fighting a Briscoe moving up is a lot more interesting.
Briscoe is a true legend of the ring without even becoming a champion. I just can't imagine Benn putting him on the floor.
But Benn didn't have the complete package of skill as Valdez, which was the vehicle that led to the spectacular one punch stoppage of Briscoe. Valdez was overall superior to Benn.
The Briscoe that lost to Monzon would have blown away Benn..taken everything that he had to offer and then dispatched him in 5 or 6.
