both great body punchers, I give a slight edge to JCC, just because chavez great chin in his prime,he was also relentless, this will be a dream match up.

the difference here is the chin. If Cotto had an equal chin then I'd honestly lean to Cotto and it would have to be 140lbs not 135, Cotto couldn't fight at that weight.

Cotto only fought at 135 in his first fight. Not really a good weight class to compare him in.

Cotto would be too drained at 135 and Chavez would stop him.

140 would be a fairer matchup. At 135 Cotto gets stopped early. At 140 he gets stopped probably mid-rounds, maybe a bit sooner. At 147 it's actually a very interesting call, considering Cotto is at his best here, and the same can't be said for JCC.

Cotto at 135 ha ha is this a joke ? Not a good mythical matchup because chavez prime is 130 - 135 and Cotto's is clearly 147 ...Cotto is the much bigger stronger man

Well Cotto would never fight Chavez at 135lbs so the comparison at that weight is null. Now at 140lbs Cotto had issues making weight while moving into better competition at that weight. I would say the only fair assesment would be for both men to fight somewhere between 143lbs and 146lbs. and that would be a tough match up when you think about it. In my opinion the only thing Chavez has over Cotto is his chin...I actually think Cotto is the much better boxer and can likely pull a UD/SD over the Mexican great at weights above 140.

Chavez is becoming quite an underrated boxer on these boards, as he showed the ability to box on the outside and land his straight right on almost anyone. Cotto is a similar fighter, just one we see more of, including his ability to box. The difference between the two is, Chavez would not be forced to box against a guy like Mosley, not at his best at 135 anyway. Chavez's chin made him a lot more reliable in a slug-fest or inside fight than Cotto as well.

At 147 is the only chance I see Cotto having, even though 140 would be the fairest fight.

Cotto at 147 would tear through ceasar's ass. Now at 135 the fight would be over at the weight in due to the fact that Cotto would look so drained and pale even if he did make weight, that I don't believe the human rights activist would allow such an event to take place.

Good matchup, we can match this one on a double header with Bob Foster and Mike Tyson at light heavyweight.

Chavez would destroy Cotto at 135. He would be so badly weight drained that he'd either pass out from exhaustion, not make weight, or get stopped in the 1st or 2nd.

At 140, this is a more fair fight, but one I'd be completely confident in picking Chavez. He was every bit as versatile as Cotto in my opinion, could take a better punch, had better stamina, and would likely break him down on the inside, stopping Cotto in the 7th or 8th.

At 147, Cotto wins by decision.
