Dont underestimate the Lewis jab.

It was right up there with those of Joe Louis and Sonny Liston in terms of brute force when it detonated. A jab becomes a lot more dangerous as a tool when it has that kind of torque behind it.

 

Still want to stick with it being as hard or harder than Holmes right hand?

More than one oponent of Louis and Liston comented that their jab landed harder than most guys cross.

I dont think it is a stretch to suggest that the same could be said of Lewis's jab. We are dealing with the big artilery here.

 

On the inside there would be no contest. Holmes would be too straight up. Walcott and Moore were way, way better inside fighters.

 

I'd like to see this fight again because I've always felt it was a little fishy.

 

Holmes right cross was a stroll in the park too. You're way off base on this one.

 

I am guessing that this is in terms of technique?

 

I don't underestimate it. It is a top 5 heavyweight jab of all time IMO. But Holmes's jab is better at all aspects.

 

Except power.

I would assume that Louis, Liston and Lewis were a league above Holmes in the power of their jabs if nothing else.

No. Look at the power in Holmes's jab in the Ocasio, Evangelista, McCall, and both Spinks fights, even the Mercer fight when Larry wasn't counter punching. These pictures are what Holmes's jabs do.
