Sorry if someone has already asked this question. Battling Jim with his sizzling combinations, gut wrenching body shots, granite chin and his Victorian age meat & potatoes diet comes up against the Russian Alexander Povetkin with his leaping hooks & solid fundamentals. Who wins? Battling Jim TKO4, for me. If the flat footed, albeit powerful Anthony Joshua can take out a past prime Povetkin in 7 rounds, then Battling Jim has an easy night at the office. Although I'm not ruling out a possible scare early on. It would be action packed for as long as it lasts. Answers on a postcard, please.
Whenever I fear my threads are taking up space, it's good to see threads like this to reassure me it's not taking space from something better.
That's not very nice. Back in Battling Jim Johnson's days there was manners - something you aren't accustomed to. Or maybe you just don't like cross era fantasy fights? Or maybe it's a bit of both, perhaps? It's all in the name of fun, Mario. Now that's got me thinking. Who wins: Peak 1989 Mario vs 2018 Mario? I just finished completing Super Mario Bro's 3 on the switch. Great fun.
batteling Jim has a nice record on paper. but from the footage i have seen of him……..he´s a pioneer. a great fighter of his time. but Fighting povetkin with that "technique" that pioneers employed…...it s just not a contest.
Some would say that is harsh on Povetkin. I agree that Battling Jim prevails but when you say ’not a contest‘, i have to respectfully disagree
Why on earth do you keep bringing up Battling Jim Johnson? You do realise there are other obscure limited heavyweights from 100 years ago? 7.7% of your posts mention him. Edit: Now it's 8.1% Missed this one and a few others, since I only searched "Battling Jim Johnson", corrected now
Battling Jim holds a special place in my heart having seen him fight live as a 5 year old with my grandfather at Broadway Theatre against Jeff Clark.
So I'm not the only person who saw the similarity. Boxed has a more comedic variety, though; SambaKing is like a character that Boxed would act like for a single thread before moving on.
Although we lack footage of Battling Jim, it’s safe to say he’d probably beat Povetkin based on the nickname he earned for himself.
