This fight was a hotly contested bout, held in Boston Mass it took place 11 months after Battling Jim held a broken- armed Jack Johnson to a draw.

Two months prior to this fight ,Battling Jim had held Sam Langford to a draw and, 6 months after the Jeannette bout , he would again draw with Langford.

Battling Jim lacked science , but was extremely strong ,and hard hitting, his win to losses ratio is not very impressive, but it should be noted that of his 22 wins , 19 were by ko.

It should be noted that Courage Tshabalala was big and strong and 22 of his 26 wins were by KO.

I saw some of his fights he could really bang.

I wasn't suggesting that Battling Jim was multi talented, just pointing out that he was good enough by virtue of his strength ,and hitting power to draw with the premier heavyweights of his times on several occasions.
