I had it 8-4 but was hugely influenced by sky and I did think there were some close rounds. It was rough stuff but I thought it was reffed very well. Victor Loughlin gave them both every chance he could. It wouldn't be mentioned disparagingly at all if Parris had scored the fight properly. Its got to the stage where I almost prefer to see him in the ring as referee than hearinng he has been entrusted with scoring a fight.
If you're this self-conscious of it, why allow it to happen as it's happening? Why not turn off the volume or force yourself to separate what you're seeing from what you're hearing (at least for scoring purposes)?
I don't know enough to 'go it alone'. They can sometimes give an insight into what a fighter might do better to combat any given action. For someone of limited knowledge this can be helpful. The flip side is that your scorecards end up like Jimm Watt's or Glenn McCrory's every week. When I make the effort to block it all out, I nearly always end up with the same card as Victor Loughlin (when he's the judge) Which I guess isn't too bad. I also get influenced by whether I like a fighter or whether he is undefeated......But I am just a Jo Schmo. Dave Parris has no excuse.
The hometown kid got a gift draw, this goes on so much, I remember the Vanzie-Earl robberies, its really sickening for a boxing fan to see a top class boxer robbed because he isnt a draw. Bayaar was a clear as day winner as you can get It shouldn't distract from the fact it was a great title fight for me. The 8-4 to Sexton card, needs shooting. 6-6 is way off but perhaps somewhat justifiable. Sexton closed the show well in the championship rounds, the way he was in the last 3-4 was exciting stuff
First time poster but long term boxing fan. I feel i had to join and put my view forward re the disgraceful decision by that **** of "ref". Ok Sexton showed great (but ineffective) heart in the last few rounds after doing a sly one on Bayaar and yes Sextons baying, rabid, motley crew of supporters than looked like the local BNP and essex slags were loud enough to perhaps give him a point or two but how the **** was that given as a draw.Surely police should get involved in corruption - many gamblers would have made and lost fortunes on a clear decision - Bayaar caned him senselessly up to the cut. :bbb And then Sexton thought he did enough......jokes if it weren't so sad that the reputation of fair British judging lies in tatters cos of that grade A twat of a judge/ref
im not quite sure how Sexton's aggresion is counted as ineffective when he manages to take Shinny completly out of his comfort zone, if he showed aggresion from the opening bell Shinny would have been stopped, on a side note please dont get influenced by the sky team although Shinny won most of the first half of the fight he was hardly battering Sexton:good
TBF he said that last night when most people were either furious with the decision or furious with the sky team
As i said i didnt watch the fight. Judging by the majority reaction, Bayaar lost a win, whilst Sexton gained a draw he perhaps didnt deserve. My point about Sexton being of Brit origin wasn't a slant against British "hometown" scoring, but of hometown scoring all over the world, so settle the **** down!
i definatley had shinny winning comfortabley the only time sexton was effective was when he had his head stuffed into shinnys face. i also thought sexton lost all heart after the first round which makes me wonder how he would cope against anyone above shinnys level. to top it off i thought the commentary was very harsh towards bayaar before the fight when they said he had struggled with ali in his last fight. i rate ali wasnt he an aba champion? he dropped michael walsh and looks capable i would like to see him in with sexton to see how he would cope
