    Weird. I didn't notice.

How did this go down? Did Bayless wait 8 seconds before counting? Could it have been a mistake?

I'm sure even Bayless can be bought, but he's the last guy I'd expect to succumb. Lord knows, he could have let Amir continue after the third KD, so it's kind of hard to believe he was doing it on purpose.

Even Stevie Wonder would have noticed.

I didn't notice anything but. It was absurd.

Do you know that refs ask the fighter if they are ok? make them walk towards them and wipe their gloves off? They don't just count to ten you idiot.

    it's called protecting the fighter

I remember Cunningham got something like a 20 second count against Hernandez, this was just as bad

Yep should have been stopped on the first knockdown. He couldn't put his hands up for bayless, even after those eighteen seconds. Surprised bayless let it go on actually. Would have saved Khan further embarrassment too.

It could have been stopped after the first knock down and Garcia even predicted a 3rd rd knockout.

Bayless practically had to force Khan to put his gloves up. And he was stumbling back to the ropes hoping they kept him up while he tried to regain his legs.

I'm glad he didn't though after the first KD. Plus I wish he kept it going as it was a fun fight and Khan would continue to fight back to make it even more entertaining. But for Khans health it was the best decision.

I have no idea.. The time he took to let it continue after khan had gotten up the first time was absurd. Watch it again ul see.

I'm glad somebody brought this up it really was a joke piece of refereeing by a man who is usually first rate

It was clear as day that Bayless was giving him the long count and doing everything he could to make sure he recovered, giving him extra time. ****in bull****, but at least justice was served in the end.

Bayless did ok - I think he was pretty unsure if he should let Khan should continue in the 3rd and that caused him to hesitate for a few seconds. I thought the stoppage was also fine, btw. Khan looked increasingly gone.

Yet some people are saying it was a bad stoppage.:huh
Bayless was superb. He knew Khan was on Silly street, but didn't want to wave it right off.He also stopped it right,if a tad late. But he did everything to make it last, and boxing fans should be glad of that.

Most fights get waved off when a fighter is in that state.

Bayliss isn't as good as Smoger by any stretch of the imagination, but he's usually a solid official.

Khan's chin is horrible. If he was getting smashed by the sort of huge combos Chisora took from a huge, fast puncher like David Haye, you'd say "okay, that can happen to a fighter" but he routinely gets hit, hurt and stopped by opponents who, relatively speaking, appear to be wearing feather dusters in their gloves against many other opponents. If ever I get a chinchecker vote, I'm saying that he's reclaimed his world championship from Kirkland.
