That's almost as many KD's as he had. But not nearly as many bombs as he took. He was done for. Bayless got a good look, and didn't see in Khan what he wanted to.

Look at his fight with Willie Limond years ago, he was down for ages but the ref gave him plenty of time.

I felt that count was far too long, then he got a whole minute of rest only to go down right away leading me to think it should have been stopped at KD 1, in the corner or right after KD 2

But when they stopped it Khan really seemed to be recovered, KD 3 was soft and he got up and responded to the commands and in ref cam looked pretty good

HUm....people are reading too much into this...

He gave an 8 count (pretty much 8 true seconds) then it was the usual "come to me" and "are you alright" and gloves cleaning.

They always do that AFTER the count and it always takes about 5 seconds.

Do you guys want the ref to start saying "come to me" and clean the gloves at the count of 5 to make it fair??

That was long yes, but very different from common pratice? No.

Also, I like the referee to give every possible chance to a fighter (be it Khan or Gracia).

Bayless is top notch but that was a bit long. If he was concerned he should have called it then. I would have stopped it after the first myself but I didn't mind seeing the action that followed. The final stoppage I felt was a bit premature considering how Khan looked in the corner, but if you factor in the previous knockdowns and Bambi legs, I am fine with it.

It was a long count without any doubt.

Long count? Are you guys new to boxing?

That's pretty standard if you get up before the 10 count.. they wipe the gloves, ask if they are okay, ask them to come to them.. get things back ready and let it go... that takes a few seconds.. 20 seconds isn't out of line from KD to action starting back up.. it's far more normal than a guy getting up and action being immediately restarted.

 and it usually takes 10-11 seconds to accomplish this?

Khan could have been hurt or killed. After the first knockdown he couldnt protect himself at all. Garcia was landing hayemakers. Bayless should have known better he's a class ref.

You ask the fighter maybe once or twice to come to me and put your gloves up. Bayless asked him like 5 times and had to physically lift khans gloves up for him. Khan was in lala land.

A lot of times, yes. 15-20 seconds seems pretty normal from KD to action.

anyone arguing that the stoppage was bad is a ****wit.. I LOVE KHANS STYLE MORE THEN MOST

but the kid was done for.. i may have even called it after the first knockdown but he got up and even if he was wobbled being only 1 knockdown and being well within the fight before the knockdown it ******ts to let khan go out for more IF HE WANTED TO (and he did)

    but good stoppage

I remember thinking Bayless probably should have stopped the fight at that point, but I wasn't paying attention to the time. So sue me.

I don't have a video to watch, so I'd still like to know exactly how it went down.
Maybe Bayless took the extra time because he was trying to decide what to do in a difficult situation?

Exactly what I think, but I'll reserve judgement until I have a chance to see it again.
