Did the ref stop the fight at the right time? Should he have stopped it sooner?..... Not at all?

I thought he did the right thing. Cotto was done at that point, any continued action would only have been for the sake of Cotto's pride, which....while a consideration, is far outweighed by his safety. He gave Cotto the opportunity to fight his way back into the fight and when it became apparent he could not do so, well..... better to stop it a punch too soon than a punch too late.

If should have been stopped in the 9th/10th rounds. But since they let it continue, they should have allowed the fight to go all 12 rounds.

Cotto was staying to survive for God's sake.. He should have stopped it earlier and prevented additional physical damage and moral damage..

the perfect time to stop it was round 9. that was the worst cotto round after round 4 and it probably was a 10-8 round without any knockdowns.

Cotto was in full retreat and effectively stopped trying to win.

He should have stopped it earlier.

I think Don Miguel Cotto wanted to stop the fight before the 10th round, and their trainer wanted to stop the fight entering the 12th, but Cotto didnt want to.

Plus, just a day before the MP-Cotto fight, a boxer got seriously hurt by a big time punch and got KD in the last round, but was able to stand up and finish the fight and win via decision. (Z Gorres of the Philippines) and he collapsed minutes later in the dressing room.

He's now in a medically induced coma and was operated on because he suffered blood clots to the brain. We hope he recovers soon.

I believe that had an influence on the referee.

I thought it was a premature stoppage at the time but if you think about it that fight would have been stopped either way. Cotto was hurt and pac was going for the kill. I have no doubt pac would have landed multiple power punch if the ref hadn't stepped in. So either way it would have been stop.

The fight shold've been stopped after the 10th rd. Cotto was trying to ride away on his bicycle after the 8th rd.

Right one because I bet for a Pac KO. If it went with a decision, I would have lost money, plus the odds in a KO win is better than a decision.

Bayless was spot on in stopping the fight, and it could have been better if it is 1 second before the bell. By that, I would have still won my bet.

Stupid peole really wants to see fighters get hurt. Ehen a fighter is in survival mode for three rounds, they should have stopped it already.

if he let him fight till 12th then he should have just let him finish. cotto wasnt hurt anymore in round 12 then he was in round 8 9 10 or 11.

My main complaint is he didn't stop the fighter in round 8 or 9 when Cotto was running and taking heavy punishment with no hope of winning.

Having let Cotto go through all that, and he got through 10 and 11 relatively unscathed, it was bizarre to stop the fight after the first punch landed in round 12. He must have heard the goings on in Cotto's corner, he looked eager to step in.
