I thought it was a little premature, but I can understand where Bayless was coming from. Katsidis has always been a warrior, but given the circumstances surrounding this fight...forgive the cliche because it's true here, there's no question Katsidis would have fought to the death. Kenny knew that too, and that's why I think he jumped in when he did in order to protect Katsidis from both Marquez and his own heart. I think Bayless put him on a shorter leash than he otherwise would have had Katsidis on if the tragic circumstances hadn't hit him.

I understand why Bayless did it, but I don't think it was quite over yet. It looked like it was getting close to that point though, so I don't blame Bayless for his call whatsoever.

It was too early and Katsidis is a warrior. Before the stoppage Kat hit Marquez in the jaw and Bayless decided to stop the fight.

:thumbsup I think you're right, given the circumstances it would have been bad if Katsidis was knocked out badly and Bayless was aware of that. It played a crucial factor in Bayless stopping the fight a bit prematurely.

Can you imagine how his family would feel watching Katsidis knocked out badly (worrying if he would be all right) considering his brother died not long ago?

I thought the stoppage was a bit early but after seeing that Katsidis did not protest it and gave his props to Marquez it was understandable that mentally he had given up. His heart told him differently but he knew his body could no longer take the punishment Marquez had given him. All in all, after viewing the circumstances, it was a good stoppage.

That was a very good fight last night. But these fighters are also human beings and in the 9th round Katz was out of gas and getting beat up real good and legs was totally gone. The stoppage was right on time.

Marquez was tearing Katsidis apart. He was fresher of the two. Nothing suggests Katsidis would have won stamina contest. Katsidis tried everything. The best chance he had was in 3rd round. Marquez made a mistake but Katsidis couldn't capitalize fully on that. Katsidis cannot win this fight by brute force.

Bayless stepping in is ok with me. But I'd rather corner did it.

Yeah, but that stupid ref Cole didn't stop Margarito from fighting.

Exactly. I wish we had MORE refs in this sport like Lawrence Cole. Let the fighters fight, and let the fight go to its natural conclusion.

Bad stoppage. Katsidis didn't protest because he is a class act and was not about to ***** or complain in a fight in his brother's honor. Him never being knocked down and 46 secs or so left Bayless could have given him a little more time to see how the action progressed. Nudge to early. Kinda robbed us of something special. Not the worst stoppage but based on participants Bayless took to much control.
